Manually Locking the Phone
The Galaxy S II can be locked manually by pressing the Power/Lock key on the right-hand side of the phone.
Unlocking the Phone with Your Unlock Pattern
First, press the Power/Lock key to awaken the device. After it has been awakened, draw your personal unlock pattern, being sure to connect all of the dots.
Set Your Unlock Pattern
From the 'Settings' menu, navigate to 'Location and Security > Set Screen Lock'. Touch the 'Pattern' option and follow the prompts to create or change your screen unlock pattern.
Unlocking the Phone with a Password
First, press the Power/Lock key to awaken the device. After it has been awakened, enter your password and touch 'OK'.
Set Your Password
From the 'Settings' menu, navigate to 'Location and Security > Set Screen Lock'. Touch the 'Password' option and follow the prompts on the screen. A QWERTY keyboard will appear for you to enter the desired password.
Hide Visible Passwords
Whenever you are typing in your password, the last letter entered will briefly display itself until you enter the next character. To change this, navigate to 'Settings > Location and Security > Visible Passwords' to enable or disable displays of password characters.
