Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has officially introduced its new Galaxy S III smartphone, which is being boasted by the company as being a highly intuitive device.

The S III features a range of technology designed to detect one's face, voice and motions. The Smart Stay feature recognizes how the individual is using his phone (i.e. scoping out an article on the Web), by having the 1.9MP front-facing camera identify his eyes. For the reader, this function will realize that he is locked onto his screen, and therefore realizes that it should remain bright enough for him to complete said article.

The S Voice function is an "advanced natural language user interface" that is able to listen and respond to a user's words. For instance, if someone is using the phone's alarm clock, he can tell the phone to "snooze" if he wants to get some extra shuteye. S Voice can also be used to play stored songs, turn the volume up and down, send texts and e-mails, or even launch the camera and take a photo.

Another interesting feature is how the S III can recognize motion. If a user is texting a person but wants the conversation to now take place on the phone, he can lift the phone to his ear and the Direct Call function will dial that person's number.

The device also has S Beam, which allows a 1GB movie file to be shared within three minutes and a 10MB music file within two seconds, just by touching one S III device to another - this will work with, or without a Wi-Fi signal.

With AllShare Cast, a user can wirelessly connect the device to his TV, to immediately transfer smartphone content onto a larger display. Meanwhile, the AllShare Play can be used to share files between the S III and tablets, PCs and TVs, no matter the distance between them.

The S III has a 4.8" HD Super AMOLED touch display, runs on the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS, offers 16GB and 32GB memory options (64GB available soon), and has a microSD slot that can hold up to an additional 64GB. There's also an 8MP auto focus camera with flash and zero shutter lag, which is capable of capturing HD video.

What's more, it has Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities and will work on 3G and 4G networks. Samsung Canada says that it intends on bringing LTE version of the S III to the country.

The Samsung Galaxy S III will be available this summer. Canadian carriers for the device haven't been confirmed, nor has the price point.

Indeed. Well, I think it was equivalent to the iPhone 4 to iPhone 4S release. Still better than its predecessor but the public expected more.
