Step 1:

1.
Download and install Samsung Kies software: Download Samsung/Kies_2.0.3.11082_152_4.exe at DownloadAndroidROM.com
2. Download and unzip the AT&T Galaxy Note Root files: Download GalaxyNote/rooting/ATTGalaxyNoteRootICS.zip at DownloadAndroidROM.com

Step 2:

1. While your device is powered on, press and hold the "volume down" and "power" buttons.
2. Once your handset powers down keep pressing the "volume down" button and release the "power" button.
3. Now you should be presented with a warning screen. Press the "volume up" button.
4. Connect your device to your PC via the USB cable.

Step 3:

1. On your PC go to "Control Panel" and access "Device Manager".
2. Make sure your Galaxy Note shows up under the "Universal Serial Bus controller" as "Samsung mobile USB CDC Composite device". If it doesn't show up then you probably haven't installed Kies software.
3. Go to the location where you saved the unzipped root files.
4. Double-click the "Odin3 v1.85.exe".
5. In the Odin window click on the "PDA" button.
6. Browse to the folder you've unzipped to root files to and double-click the "odin_n1717_cwm_recovery_b4.tar" file
7. Click on the "Start" button on the Odin main window. After the flashing is complete the handset will reboot.
8. Once the handset boots up make sure your device is still connected to your PC. If not, unplug and plug the USB cable.
9. On your computer screen you should now see your Samsung Galaxy Note in the windows explorer.
10. Access the folder in which you've unzipped the root files, copy the file named "Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip" > click on the Samsung device in the windows explorer > paste the file on the phone.

Step 4:

1. Hold down the "volume up", "volume down" and "power" buttons on your Galaxy Note at the same time.
2. After your device resets let go of the "power" button but keep pressing the volume keys.
3. Your device should now boot into "Clockworkmod recovery". Once it does so release the volume buttons.
4. Use your volume keys to scroll down to "install zip from sdcard" and press the "power" button to select the option.
5. If you've copied the "Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip" file onto your phone's memory use the volume and power keys to scroll down and select "choose zip from internal sdcard". If you've pasted the file on your SDcard, select "choose zip from sdcard" instead.
6. Select "Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip".
7. Select "Yes – Install Superuser". The installation should now proceed.

NOTE: In case you get an error during the installation, repeat steps 4 through 7.

8. Once the installation has completed successfully, tap the "power" button until your device reboots.
9. You should now make sure you've successfully rooted your AT&T Galaxy Note by accessing your apps and verifying whether or not the "Superuser" app is available.
