I just went from Verizon to Virgin which is a whole lot cheaper from a dumb phone to a Samsung Galaxy Reverb and I wanted to know what is the advanage of having a Samsung and Google account? All I ever did was talk on my phone but now it would be nice to read my emails so I have to activate my Samsumg and Google account on my Phone?

Keep in mind that "Find My Mobile" (samsung dive) is not available on US phones, unfortunately.

I'm not sure what this means. I keep my contacts on my phone and apps if I get any. Do I neet these accounts to access my email from cox.net which is my provider

Do I need the Samsung account to have a google account?

These might be dumb questions but I'm new at this because I never had a smart phone before

    Re: Accounts

Merged this into the original thread - did you get an error when you tried to reply?

Anyway - if you contacts are already on your phone and you don't want to back them up, use your calendar, download any apps, or use gmail, then you don't need to hook up a google account.

You don't need the Samsung account either if you don't want any of the features listed above. You don't need one to have the other.

    Re: Samsung and Google account

Email from your provider is independent from Google and Samsung - if you need help setting up your e-mail the steps should be similar to this: http://cellphoneforums.net/samsung-g...ry-4g-lte.html

    Re: Samsung and Google account

No need to set up/activate your Gmail and/or Samsung Account to use your phone to text, call, and read emails. If you want to install apps though from Google Play Store, which I think you would want to later, you need to set up a gmail account or use an existing one, to be able to download apps to your phone, same with Samsung.
