Wi-Fi Management

Enabling and Managing Wi-Fi:

  1. On the home screen, press the "Menu" button on your device
  2. Select "Settings"
  3. Tap the slider associated with "Wi-Fi" in order to bring it in the "On" position
  4. To access Wi-Fi settings, tap "Wi-Fi" (the text itself, not the slider)
  5. Tap the "Menu" key on your device and select "Advanced" to gain access to the following options:

    • Network notifications: once enabled, you will receive notifications whenever you attempt to launch a high data-usage app
    • Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep: if enabled, Wi-Fi will not be automatically disabled once the phone goes to sleep
    • Wi-Fi timer: allows you to select a starting and ending time for when your handset keeps Wi-Fi on
    • MAC address: this shows you your phoe's unique ID, used when connecting to Wi-Fi
    • IP address: shows you your phone's IP (Internet Protocol)

Connecting to a Wi-Fi Network:

  1. While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" key on your device and go to "Settings"
  2. Make sure that Wi-Fi is enabled
  3. After the scan for networks is complete, tap the Wi-Fi network that you wish to connect to and enter the network's password if required

Adding a Wi-Fi Network Manually:

  1. Press the "Menu" key while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and enable "Wi-Fi"
  3. After the scanning process, scroll to and tap the "Add Wi-Fi network" button
  4. Enter the network's name in the "Network Name (SSID)" field
  5. Select the type of security and then tap the "Password" field and type in the password
  6. Tap "Save" to save these settings for future use

Connecting to Wi-Fi Direct Devices:

  1. Make sure that Wi-Fi is enabled
  2. Enable "Wi-Fi Direct" from the "Settings" menu. Tap "Wi-Fi" and then "Wi-Fi Direct" in order to scan for other devices
  3. Select the device that you wish to connect with from the "Available" devices list. Alternatively, you can select "Multi-connect" if you wish to connect to more than one device.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts on all the devices that you wish to connect


Bluetooth Management

Enabling Bluetooth:

  1. While viewing the home screen, tap the "Menu" button on your device
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Tap the "Bluetooth" slider and bring it in the "On" position
  4. To access Bluetooth settings, tap "Bluetooth" (the text, not the switch)

Pairing With a Bluetooth Device:

  1. While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" key on your device
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Make sure that Bluetooth is enabled and tap "Scan"
  4. After the scanning process is complete, tap the device that you wish to pair with
  5. If required, enter the password (PIN). By default, most Bluetooth devices have the password "1234" or "0000"

Enabling and Configuring File Sharing Using DLNA:

In order to share files between two devices over Wi-Fi, both devices need to support DLNA. To enable file sharing:

  1. While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" button
  2. Tap "Settings" > "More settings" > "Nearby devices"
  3. Tap "File sharing" to enable or disable the option
  4. To configure file sharing, go under "Advanced" and tap the one or more of the following options:

    • Shared contents: allows you to select the type of content to share
    • Device name: view and / or change your device's name
    • Allowed device list: enables you to view and manage the list of allowed connections
    • Not-allowed devices list: shows you the list of restricted connections
    • Download to: allows you to set a location for the downloaded files
    • Upload from other devices: choose how you wish to handle incoming files from other devices


Managing Data Usage

Enabling / Disabling Mobile Data:

  1. Tap the "Menu" key while viewing the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Data usage"
  3. Tap "Mobile data" to enable or disable this option

Setting a Mobile Data Usage Limit:

Setting a mobile data limit allows you to prevent extra charges by exceeding your data allowance. Note that, the method of measurement used by the phone differs from the one used by the carrier, so it's recommended that you leave room for errors.

  1. Press the "Menu" key on your device
  2. Go to "Settings" > "Data usage"
  3. Touch "Mobile data" to enable mobile data services (Setting a data usage limit requires mobile data to be enabled)
  4. Tap "Limit mobile data usage" to enable the limit, then drag the red limit line to the desired position
  5. Tap "Alert me about data usage" and drag the orange alert line in the desired position
