Battery Saving Mode
Enabling Battery Saving Mode:
- From any of the home screens, press the "Menu" button
- Select "Settings"
- Go to the "General" tab
- Tap the switch associated with "Power saving mode" to enable (or disable) this feature
- Once enabled, tap "Power saving mode" > "Learn about Power saving mode" to view more tips about this mode
Battery Saving Mode Settings:
- While on the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Go to "Settings"
- Tap the "General" tab
- Make sure that Power saving mode is enabled
- Tap "Power saving mode"
- Mark or unmark the checkboxes associated with "CPU power saving", "Screen power saving", "Turn off haptic feedback" to enable or disable these features
Tips to Save Battery Life
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- From the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Tap "Settings"
- Go to the "Display" tab
- Select "Brightness"
- If necessary, clear the check box associated with "Automatic brightness"
- Tap and drag the slider to the left to lower the brightness
- Tap "OK"
- Tap "Screen timeout" and select a lower setting (the lowest is 15 seconds)
Disabling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot:
- From the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Select "Settings"
- Tap the "Connections" tab and tap "More networks"
- Tap "Tethering & Mobile HotSpot"
- Tap the switch associated with "Mobile HotSpot" to disable this feature
- Drag the "Status" bar down
- To disable WI-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS, press the switch associated with these features. (Light green means they are enabled, gray means they are disabled)
Changing Application Sync Settings:
- While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Tap "Settings"
- Go to the "General" tab
- Under "My accounts", select the desired account type
- If necessary, tap your "User name" or "Email address" at the top of the screen
- Clear the check box associated with each syncing category
- You can increase the interval of time between syncing for each category
Disabling Background Data:
- From the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Tap "Settings"
- Go to the "Connections" tab
- Tap "Data usage"
- Press the "Menu" button
- Press "Restrict background data" to unmark the check box associated with it and disable the feature
Minimizing Use of Third Party Applications:
- On the home screen, press "Menu" > "Settings"
- Tap the "General" tab
- Tap "Application manager"
- Swipe left or right until you reach the "Downloaded" screen
- Tap the desired application
- Press "Disable" to turn off the app, or "Uninstall" > "OK" to delete the application
Toggle From 4G to 2G:
- On the home screen, press the "Menu" key
- Go to "Settings" and tap the "Connections" tab
- Tap "More networks" > "Mobile networks" > "Network mode"
- Select the desired setting, between: "LTE / WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)", "WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)", "WCDMA only", "GSM only"
Updating to the Latest Software:
- From the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Tap "Settings"
- Go to the "General" tab
- Tap "About device" > "Software update"
- If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it. Otherwise, press the "Home" button to return to the home screen
