Enabling and Managing Battery Saving Mode:

  1. While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" key
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Go to the "My device" tab
  4. Make sure the "Power Saving Mode" switch is off, otherwise you can't change the settings
  5. Tap "Power saving mode" and mark or unmark the check boxes associated with "CPU power saving", "Screen power saving" etc.
  6. Go back to the previous menu and tap the "Power saving mode" Switch to turn it ON

Adjusting the Screen Brightness and Timeout:

  1. Press the "Menu" key while viewing the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. From the "My device" tab, tap "Display"
  4. Go to "Brightness" and disable "Automatic brightness"
  5. Drag the brightness slider to the left, and set it to a lower level
  6. Tap "OK"
  7. Touch "Screen timeout" and select a lower value (such as 15 seconds)

Disabling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot:

Connectivity features can make a big impact on your smartphone's battery life, so it's highly advised to disable any connectivity option when not in use, including the ones mentioned above. To do so:

  1. Press the "Menu" key while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and go to the "Connections" tab
  3. Tap "More networks" > "Tethering & Mobile HotSpot"
  4. Turn the "Mobile HotSpot" switch off
  5. Drag the "Status" bar down, from the top of the screen
  6. Disable the switches associated with "Wi-Fi", "Bluetooth" and "GPS"

Changing Application Sync Settings:

  1. Go to the general "Settings" menu
  2. Swipe to the "Accounts" tab
  3. Under "My accounts", select the desired type of account
  4. Change the sync settings as you desire. Generally speaking, you need to unmark check boxes associated with various apps (depending on the account type)
  5. At the top of the screen, tap your "email address" or "user name". Here you will find additional sync settings that you can disable

Disabling Background Data:

  1. From the home screen, press "Menu"
  2. Tap "Settings" and go to the "Connections" tab
  3. Tap "Data usage" > "Menu"
  4. Enable the "Restrict background data" option

Minimizing Third Part Applications Usage:

  1. Tap the "Menu" key while viewing a home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and navigate to the "More" tab
  3. Tap "Application manager" and swipe until you reach the "Downloaded" screen
  4. Select the app that you wish to disable
  5. Tap "Disable" or "Uninstall"
  6. Confirm by pressing "OK"

Switching from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. On the home screen, tap "Menu" > "Settings"
  2. Navigate to the "Connections" tab
  3. Tap "More networks" > "Mobile networks" > "Network mode"
  4. To connect to 2G only, tap "GSM only"
  5. To return to 4G connectivity, tap "LTE / GSM / WCDMA (auto connect)" or "GSM / WCDMA (auto connect)"

Updating to the Newest Software Version Available:

NOTE: following the steps below will only help with battery life if a new software update is available that fixes potential issues with your device's battery. Otherwise, following these steps will not yield any benefits.

  1. Press "Menu" while viewing a home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and go to the "More" tab
  3. Tap "About device" > "Software update"
  4. If an update is available, follow any additional self-explanatory steps in order to download and apply it
