Restoring Applications:
- If needed, sign in with your Google account (on your smartphone)
- Press the "menu" button while viewing a home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Swipe to "Accounts" and tap "Google" > "Sync all"
- Press "Back" and tap "Backup and reset"
- Check/uncheck "Backup my data" and "Automatic restore"
Restoring Contacts From a Samsung or Google Account:
- Press "Menu" while viewing the home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Go to the "Accounts" tab
- Tap either "Google" or "Samsung" – depending what type of account you've used to back up your contacts
- Tap your "email address" at the top of the screen
- Mark the "sync contacts" check box. If it's already selected, then tap "Sync now"
Restoring Contacts from the SD Card:
- Tap "Contacts" while on the home screen
- Press "Menu" and select "Import / Export"
- Select "Import from SD card"
- Choose the account on which you wish to restore the contacts
- Select the desired contact backup file and load it
Restoring Media Files From the SD Card:
- While viewing any home screen, press "All apps"
- Tap "My Files" > "All files" > "SD card"
- Navigate to where the media files are stored
- Tap and hold a file that you want to restore, and select "Move"
- You will now be given the available memory locations. To move the files in a different location, tap the folder name or select "Create new"
- Navigate to where you wish to restore the files and tap "Move here"
Restoring Media Files from a Windows Computer:
- Connect your smartphone to your computer via USB
- Drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device". Then, mark the "Media device" check box
- On the computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer". Otherwise, manually navigate to where you wish to restore the media files
- Open a new Windows Explorer window and navigate to where the files are backed up on your computer
- Copy the files and paste them onto your phone's memory
- After the transfer is complete, disconnect your smartphone from your computer
Restoring Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Establish a connection between your smartphone and Mac via USB
- On your smartphone, open the notification area and tap "Connected as a media device". Then, mark the check box associated with "Media device"
- Open Kies on the Mac
- Go to the "Back up / restore" tab
- Click the "Restore" tab
- Mark the check boxes associated with "Music" and / or "Photo". Optionally, click the boxes next to any additional categories, or mark the "Select all items" option
- Click "Restore" and follow any additional prompts
- Once the files have been restored, safely disconnect your smartphone from your Mac
