Using Battery Saving Mode:
- Press the "Menu" button while viewing a home screen
- Tap "Settings" and tap the "My device" tab
- Press the "ON / OFF" switch associated with "Power saving mode" and set it to "ON"
- Tap "Power saving mode"
- To customize how Battery saving mode works, check or uncheck the boxes associated with "CPU power saving", "Screen power saving" and "Turn off haptic feedback"
- Optionally, tap "Learn about Power saving mode" to see more tips
Lowering the Screen Brightness and Adjusting the Timeout Duration:
- Press the "Menu" button while on a home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Tap the "My device" tab
- Touch "Display" > "Brightness"
- Clear the "Automatic brightness" check box if necessary
- Drag the brightness slider to the left, and leave it to a lower level
- Tap "OK"
- Press "Screen timeout" and select a lower settings (such as "15 seconds")
Disabling Your Live Wallpaper:
- From the home screen, press "Menu"

- Select either "Wallpaper" or "Gallery"

- While on the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Tap "Settings" and go to the "Connections" tab
- Tap "More networks" > "Tethering & Mobile Hotspot"
- Press the "Mobile Hotspot" switch and set it to "OFF"
- Return to the home screen and drag the "Status" bar down
- Tap the icons associated with "Wi-Fi", "Bluetooth" and "GPS" in order to turn these features off
Changing the Sync Settings:
- Press "Menu" from the home screen
- Tap "Settings" and tap the "Accounts" tab
- Under "My accounts", select the desired account type, such as "Google"
- Adjust the available sync settings for the selected account type. Generally speaking, you need to clear the check boxes to turn off sync, or tap each feature to select a lower time interval for syncing
- To further adjust additional sync settings, tap your "user name" or "email address" located at the top of the screen
- Clear the check box for each applicable category to turn sync off
- Tap each category to set a different sync setting
Disabling Background Data:
- From the home screen, press "Menu"
- Tap "Settings"
- Press the "Connections" tab and tap "Data usage"
- Press "Menu" and mark the "Restrict background data" check box
Minimizing the use of 3rd Party Apps:
- While viewing the home screen, press "Menu"
- Tap "Settings" > "More" > "Application manager"
- Swipe to the "Downloaded" screen
- Select the desired app and tap "Disable" or "Uninstall"
- Press "OK" to confirm
Switching from 4G to 2G Connectivity:
- Press "Menu" while on the home screen
- Tap "Settings" and go to the "Connections" tab
- Tap "More networks" > "Mobile networks" > "Network mode"
- Select "GSM only" to restrict your phone to 2G connectivity only
- To return to 4G connectivity, tap "LTE / GSM / WCDMA (auto connect)" or "GSM / WCMA (auto connect)"
Checking for Software Updates and Keeping Your Phone Up to Date:
NOTE: this tip works only if Samsung has released a new software update that addresses potential issues with your phone's battery life. Following these steps without any update being available will not give any results.
- Press "Menu" from the home screen
- Tap "Settings" > "More"
- Tap "About device" and select "Software update"
- If there's a new software update available, follow any on-screen instructions to download and apply it
