Restoring Applications:
- Log in to the Google account that you've used as a backup location
- Press the "Menu" button while on the home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Swipe to the "Accounts" tab
- Select "Google" and tap "Sync all"
- Press "Back" and tap "Backup and reset"
- Check / uncheck the boxes associated with "Backup my data" and "Automatic restore"
Restoring Contacts from a Google or Samsung Account:
- Press the "Menu" button while on the home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Go to the "Accounts" tab
- Select either "Google" or "Samsung", depending on what type of account you've backed up the contacts
- Tap the "email address" at the top of the display
- Mark the check box next to "Sync contacts". If the box is ticked, tap "Sync now"
Restoring Contacts from the SD Card:
- Open the "Contacts" app
- Press "Menu" and select "Import / Export"
- Tap "Import from SD card"
- Select the account on which you wish to restore the contacts
- Choose the VCF file that contains the desired information, and import the contacts
Restoring Media Files from the SD Card:
- While on the home screen, tap "All apps"
- Tap "My Files" > "All files" > "SD card"
- Navigate to where the media files are backed up
- Tap and hold the file that you want to restore
- Select "Move"
- The phone will automatically show the available memory locations. NOTE: optionally you can tap the folder name or tap "Create new"
- Tap "Move here"
Restoring Media Files from Your Windows Computer:
- Establish a connection between your smartphone and PC via USB
- Drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the check box next to "Media device"
- In the AutoRun window on your computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Open a new Windows Explorer window and navigate to where the media files are backed up
- Copy the files, and paste them on your phone's storage. NOTE: the icon depicting a card represents the SD card, whereas the phone-like icon represents the handset's internal storage
- Once the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone form your PC
Restoring Media Files from Your Mac Computer via Kies:
- Connect your smartphone to your Mac computer
- On your handset, drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device". Then, tap the "Media device" option
- Open Kies on your Mac
- In Kies, go to the "Back up / restore" tab
- Click the "Restore" tab if necessary
- Mark the check boxes associated with "Music", "Photo" or any other categories of files that you wish to restore. Optionally, click "Select all items"
- Click "Restore" and follow any on-screen instructions, if necessary
- Once finished, you can safely disconnect your smartphone
