Audio File Transfer
Transferring Audio Files from a Windows Computer:
- Use the USB cable to connect your smartphone to your computer
- On the handset, drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device". Then, tap "Media device (MTP)"
- From the AutoPlay window on your PC, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Open a new Windows Explorer window and locate the desired audio files stored on your HDD
- Copy the desired files and paste them on your phone's storage
- After the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone from your PC
Transferring Audio Files from a Mac Computer:
- On your Mac, visit SAMSUNG KIES
- Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen prompts to install Kies on your computer
- Establish a connection between your smartphone and computer via USB
- On your smartphone, drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device (MTP)"
- Launch Kies on your Mac
- From Kies, click the "Folder" icon associated with either "Internal Memory" or "External Memory", and navigate to where you want to add the audio files
- Open a new window on your Mac, and navigate to where the files are stored
- Drag the desired files, and drop them in Kies
- Once the transfer is over, you can disconnect your smartphone
Managing the Ringtone List
Adding Custom Ringtones to the Ringtone Menu:
- Press the "Menu" key while viewing a home screen
- Tap "Settings" and access the "My device" tab
- Tap "Sound" > "Ringtones" > "Add"
- Select either "Sound picker" or "Choose music track"
- Tap "Always" or "Just now"
- Select the desired audio files and tap "OK"
Adding Custom Notification Sounds to the Notification List:
- Tap the "Apps" icon from the home screen
- Tap "All files" > "My files"
- Locate the desired audio files stored on your device
- Tap and hold a file and select "Copy"
- Tap "Device storage" and open the "Notification" folder
- Select "Paste here"
Setting Custom Ringtones and Sounds
Changing the Ringtone for All Calls:
- Press the "Menu" button while viewing a home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Go to "My device" and tap "Sound"
- Touch "Ringtones", select the desired audio file and tap "OK"
Changing the Ringtone for One Specific Contact:
NOTE: you are not permitted to set custom ringtones to contacts stored on the phone's internal storage or the SIM card.
- Tap the "Contacts" icon located on the home screen
- Select the contact that you want to assign a ringtone to
- Tap "Edit" > "Ringtone"
- Select the ringtone that you want to set, and tap "OK"
- Press "Save" to confirm the changes
Setting a Custom Notification Sound:
- From any of the home screens, press "Menu"
- Tap "Settings" and go to "My device"
- Tap "Sound" > "Notifications"
- Select the desired notification sound and press "OK"
