Clearing the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If you're experiencing issues with your phone then you might be able to solve these problems by clearing the cache partition. Unlike applying a master reset, clearing the cache will not result in loss of personal data stored on the phone's internal storage. To wipe the cache partition:

  1. Turn off your smartphone
  2. Press and hold the "Volume Up", "Home" and "Power" buttons simultaneously
  3. After the phone vibrates, release the "Power" button but keep pressing "Home" and "Volume up"
  4. Once the "Android System Recovery" screen appears, release all buttons
  5. From the recovery screen, press the "Volume Down" button to highlight "wipe cache partition"
  6. Press the "Power" key to select the option, and wait for your phone to wipe the cache and reboot in normal mode

Safe Mode Management

NOTE: Assuming that you're experiencing issues after installing a third party app, and the application prevents you from uninstalling it, then you can reboot your smartphone in safe mode and uninstall the app. In safe mode, third party apps are disabled. To reboot in safe mode:

  1. Power off your smartphone
  2. Press and hold the "Power" button
  3. Once the "Samsung Galaxy" splash screen, appears, release the "Power" button and immediately press and hold the "Volume down" button
  4. Keep holding "Volume down" until the smartphone finishes restarting
  5. Once it reboots, the smartphone should show a "Safe mode" message in the lower-left side of the screen

Uninstalling a Third Party Application:

  1. From the home screen, press the "Menu" button
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Access the "More" tab
  4. Tap "Application manager"
  5. Swipe to the "Downloaded" screen
  6. Select the desired application and tap "Uninstall"
  7. Tap "OK"
  8. To exit safe mode, simply press and hold the "Power" button, tap "Restart" and wait for your device to reboot
