Clearing an Application's Cache and App Data:

NOTE: if an application is not working properly, clearing the app's data and cache might help solve the issues. WARNING! 1. While on the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
  2. Tap "Settings" > "More"
  3. Tap "Application manager"
  4. Swipe to the "All" tab
  5. Scroll to and select the desired application
  6. Tap "Clear data", review the pop-up message and tap "OK"
  7. Tap "Clear cache", and then tap "OK"

Wiping the Phone's Cache Partition:

NOTE: Wiping the cache partition of your phone can solve a lot of issues with your device. It's recommended that you clear the cache before trying to fix various issues by master resetting your smartphone. Unlike when applying a factory reset, clearing the cache partition will not result in the deletion of personal data. To wipe the cache:

  1. Turn off your smartphone
  2. Press and hold "Volume Up", "Home" and "Power" at the same time
  3. Once the phone vibrates, release the "Power" button but continue to press "Home" and "Volume Up"
  4. After the "Android System Recovery" screen appears, release all hardware keys
  5. Press "Volume Down" in order to navigate to and highlight "wipe cache partition"
  6. Press "Power" to select the option, and wait for your device to complete the process and restart

NOTE: if clearing the cache hasn't solved your phone's problems, you can try to fix them by means of a factory reset. Visit this link for a full guide on how to master reset the Galaxy SIII Slim.
