Transferring Contacts via Google Sync:

By syncing the contacts from your HTC One X with your Google account, you can easily transfer your contacts over to the Galaxy S5, by syncing the contacts from the account with your Samsung smartphone. This is one of the most common methods of contact transfer, and it can be performed by following the steps below:

  2. From the home screen, swipe the "Status" bar down using two fingers
  3. Tap "Settings"
  4. Under "Personal", tap "Accounts & sync"
  5. Tap "Google" and select your account
  6. Press the "Menu" icon located in the top-right corner and tap "Sync all". Alternatively, clear and mark the check box next to "Contacts" only
  7. Switch over to the Samsung Galaxy S5 and register the same Google account on the device
  8. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
  9. Under "User and backup", tap "Accounts"
  10. Choose an account, open it and press "Menu" > "Sync all"

Transferring Contacts using the Import/ Export function:

You can easily transfer contacts from the HTC One X to the Samsung Galaxy S5 by exporting them in the form of a VCF file, which can then be imported on the Galaxy S5 via the "Contacts" app. To do so:

  2. Launch the "People" app
  3. From the "People" tab, tap the "Menu" icon
  4. Tap "Manage contacts" > "Import / Export contacts"
  5. Select to "Export to phone storage" and select an account
  6. In the confirmation window, make sure you write down the VCF file's name and tap "OK"
  7. Launch the email / Gmail app and compose a new email
  8. Attach the vCard file to the email, and send it to your own address
  9. Switch over to the Samsung Galaxy S5 and open the email
  10. Download the attached vCard file
  11. Launch the "Contacts" app and press "Menu" > "Import / Export" > "Import from SD card"
  12. If necessary, select an account and load the vCard file

NOTE: if you wish to transfer the vCard file without using an email address, you can do so by connecting the HTC One X and SGS5 to a computer via USB, and copying the VCF file from the One X's internal storage to the Galaxy S5's memory. Then, launch the contacts app on the SGS5 and use the "Import" function to grab the contacts

Sending Contacts via "Send Anywhere":

Last but not least, you can transfer contacts from the HTC One X to the Galaxy S5 using third party applications such as "Send Anywhere". Using this app, you can transfer various file types as well as contacts over a P2P connection, without needing a computer or an email address. To do so:
