    Backing Up Your Apps:

    1. From any of the home screens, tap the "Apps" icon
    2. Tap "Settings" and scroll to "User and Backup"
    3. Ta p "Backup and reset", and sign in with your Google account.
    4. In case you have to add an account, tap "Backup account" > "Add account"
    5. If necessary, mark the check boxes next to "Backup my data" and "Backup account"

    Contact Backup

    Backing Up Contacts Using a Google or Samsung Account:

    1. Tap the "Contacts" icon while on the home screen
    2. Tap "Settings" > "Merge accounts"
    3. Choose "Google" or "Samsung account"
    4. To merge the contacts with the selected account, tap "OK"

    Backing Up Contacts on the SD Card:

    1. Make sure that the SD card is installed on your smartphone
    2. Tap "Apps" > "Settings"
    3. Scroll to "Applications"
    4. Tap "Contacts" > "Contacts to display"
    5. Tap "All contacts"
    6. Touch "Import / Export" and then select "Export to SD card"
    7. Make sure you remember the backup file's name before tapping "OK"

    Media File Backup

    Backing Up Media Files on the Phone's Storage:

    1. Ensure the SD card is installed on your SGS5 Mini
    2. Launch the apps drawer
    3. Tap "My Files"
    4. Scroll to "Local storage" and tap "Device storage"
    5. Press "Menu" and tap "Select"
    6. Navigate to the desired files and folders containing the media files. NOTE: photos captured with the phone's camera are found in the "DCIM" folder. Other types of files can be found in "Ringtones" and "Downloads" etc.
    7. Mark the check boxes associated with the files or folders that you wish to back up
    8. Tap "Menu" > "Copy" and select "SD card"
    9. Navigate to the location where you wish to back up the files and tap "Paste here"

    Backing Up Media Files Using a Windows PC:

    1. Connect the SGS5 Mini to the PC via USB
    2. Swipe the "Status" bar down
    3. Tap "Connected as a media device"
    4. Mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
    5. From the AutoPlay window, click "Open device to view files"
    6. Locate the desired media files on the smartphone, by accessing the "Phone" and / or "Card" directories
    7. Copy the desired files, and paste them on the computer's HDD to back them up

    Backing Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

    NOTE: the first 2 steps should be skipped if Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac computer

    1. Open the Internet browser on your Mac and navigate to Kies
    2. Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen prompts in order to install Kies on the computer
    3. After the software has been installed, connect the Galaxy S5 Mini to the Mac via USB
    4. On the Mini, swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
    5. Mark the "media device (MPT)" check box
    6. Open Samsung Kies on the Mac
    7. Click the "Back up / Restore" tab and then go to the "Backup" tab
    8. Mark the check box next to "Photo" and "Music", or mark the "Select all items" check box to back up all of your files
    9. When you're ready, click "Backup"
    10. After the process is complete, safely disconnect your SGS5 Mini from your Mac
