How-to: Samsung Galaxy Star 2: Add and Manage Contacts & Caller Groups

Managing Contacts

Adding a Contact:

1. From the home screen, tap "Contacts"
2. Access the "Contacts" tab and press "+"
3. Choose to save the contact on the "SIM card", "Device, "Google" account or "Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync"
4. Enter the contact's name in the appropriate field
5. Type in the contact's phone number and select a number type
6. Enter any additional details for the contact
7. Tap "Save" when ready

Assigning a Contact to Speed Dial:

1. Tap "Phone" while on the home screen
2. Tap the "Keypad" tab if necessary
3. Press "Menu" and tap "Speed dial"
4. Choose the dial pad number you wish to use
5. Select the contact you wish to assign to the previously selected dial pad number

Deleting Contacts:

1. Open the "Contacts" app and access the "Contacts" tab
2. Press "Menu" and tap "Delete"
3. Mark the check box(es) next to the contact(s) that you wish to remove
4. Tap "Done" and press "OK" to confirm

Contact Import / Export

Importing / Exporting Contacts From / To the SIM card:

1. Tap "Contacts" from the home screen / apps drawer
2. Access the "Contacts" tab
3. Press "Menu" and tap "Settings" > "Contacts"
4. Tap "Import / Export"
5. Perform one of the sets of steps below:
   
   • To export contacts to the SIM card:
     
     1. Tap "Export to SIM card"
     2. Choose the contacts that you wish to export or tap "Select all"
     3. Tap "Done" > "OK"
   • To Import Contacts from the SIM Card:
     
     1. Tap "Import from SIM card" and select an account
     2. Mark the contacts that you want to import, or tap "Select all"
     3. Press "Done"

Importing / Exporting Contacts From / To the SD Card:

1. Launch the "Contacts" app
2. Go to the "Contacts" tab
3. Press "Menu" and go to "Settings"
4. Tap "Contacts" > "Import / Export"
5. Perform one of the following:
   
   • To import contacts from the SD Card:
     
     1. Tap "Import from SD card"
     2. Choose the location where you want to import the contacts
     3. Tap "Import vCard file", "Import multiple vCard files" or "Import all vCard files"
     4. Press "OK" and select the desired vCard file
     5. Tap "OK" again
   • To export contacts to the SD card: Tap "Export to SD card" > "OK"

Managing Caller Groups

Creating a New Caller Group:

1. Launch the "Contacts" app
2. Access the "Groups" tab
3. Tap "Create" and enter a name for the group
4. Tap "Add member"
5. Mark the contacts that you wish to add and tap "Done"
6. Tap "Save"

Adding Contacts to an Existing Caller Group:

1. Open the "Contacts" app
2. Go to the "Groups" tab
3. Tap a group and press "+" to start adding contacts
4. Mark the check boxes next to the desired contacts
5. Tap "Done"
