Audio File Transfer
Transferring Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect your Samsung Galaxy Star 2 to your computer via USB
- Swipe the "Notification" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
- From the AutoPlay window that should appear on the PC, click "open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Navigate to where you wish to transfer the audio files on your phone
- Open a second Windows Explorer window and locate the desired audio files stored on your computer
- Copy the files, and paste them on your phone's storage
- Once the transfer is complete, click the "mass storage device" icon from the system tray and safely disconnect your smartphone
Transferring Audio Files from a Mac:
NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if you have already installed Kies on your Mac
- Open the Internet browser on your computer and visit Kies
- Click "Download for Mac OS" on the webpage
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation for Kies
- Connect the Galaxy Star 2 to your Mac via USB
- Swipe the "Notification" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "Media device" check box and launch Kies on the Mac
- In Kies, click the "Folder" icon next to "Internal memory" or "External memory"
- Navigate to where you wish to transfer the files
- Locate the files on your Mac, and drag them into Kies
- After the transfer is done, safely disconnect the Star 2 from the computer
Managing the Ringtones and Notification Sounds
Adding Audio Files to the Ringtone List:
- Press "Menu" while on the home screen
- Tap "Settings" and go to "Sound"
- Tap "Ringtones" > "Add" and select "Sound picker" or "Choose music track"
- Select to use the method of adding "Always" or "Just once"
- Press "OK" to confirm
Adding Audio Files to the Notification List:
- Open the apps drawer and tap "My Files"
- Tap "All files" and navigate to the desired sound file
- Tap and hold the file that you wish to add to the notification list
- Tap "Copy" > "Device storage"
- Navigate to the "Notifications" folder
- Tap "Paste here"
Changing the Notification Sound and Ringtone
Changing the Phone's Ringtone (All Calls):
- Press "Menu" from the home screen
- Tap "Settings" > "Sound"
- Tap "Ringtone" and choose the desired audio file
- Tap "OK" to set it as the phone's ringtone
Assigning a Ringtone to a Specific Contact:
NOTE: You cannot set ringtones to contacts that are stored on the phone's internal memory or on the SIM card
- Launch the "Contacts" application
- Tap "Edit" > "Ringtone"
- Select the desired ringtone and tap "OK"
- Tap "Save" to confirm
Changing the Notification Sound:
- Press "Menu" from the home screen and go to "Settings"
- Tap "Sound" > "Notifications"
- Choose the desired notification sound
- Tap "OK" to assign it
