Audio File Transfer

Transferring Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect your Samsung Galaxy Star 2 to your computer via USB
  2. Swipe the "Notification" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
  3. Mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
  4. From the AutoPlay window that should appear on the PC, click "open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
  5. Navigate to where you wish to transfer the audio files on your phone
  6. Open a second Windows Explorer window and locate the desired audio files stored on your computer
  7. Copy the files, and paste them on your phone's storage
  8. Once the transfer is complete, click the "mass storage device" icon from the system tray and safely disconnect your smartphone

Transferring Audio Files from a Mac:

NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if you have already installed Kies on your Mac

  1. Open the Internet browser on your computer and visit Kies
  2. Click "Download for Mac OS" on the webpage
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation for Kies
  4. Connect the Galaxy Star 2 to your Mac via USB
  5. Swipe the "Notification" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
  6. Mark the "Media device" check box and launch Kies on the Mac
  7. In Kies, click the "Folder" icon next to "Internal memory" or "External memory"
  8. Navigate to where you wish to transfer the files
  9. Locate the files on your Mac, and drag them into Kies
  10. After the transfer is done, safely disconnect the Star 2 from the computer

Managing the Ringtones and Notification Sounds

Adding Audio Files to the Ringtone List:

  1. Press "Menu" while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and go to "Sound"
  3. Tap "Ringtones" > "Add" and select "Sound picker" or "Choose music track"
  4. Select to use the method of adding "Always" or "Just once"
  5. Press "OK" to confirm

Adding Audio Files to the Notification List:

  1. Open the apps drawer and tap "My Files"
  2. Tap "All files" and navigate to the desired sound file
  3. Tap and hold the file that you wish to add to the notification list
  4. Tap "Copy" > "Device storage"
  5. Navigate to the "Notifications" folder
  6. Tap "Paste here"

Changing the Notification Sound and Ringtone

Changing the Phone's Ringtone (All Calls):

  1. Press "Menu" from the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Sound"
  3. Tap "Ringtone" and choose the desired audio file
  4. Tap "OK" to set it as the phone's ringtone

Assigning a Ringtone to a Specific Contact:

NOTE: You cannot set ringtones to contacts that are stored on the phone's internal memory or on the SIM card

  1. Launch the "Contacts" application
  2. Tap "Edit" > "Ringtone"
  3. Select the desired ringtone and tap "OK"
  4. Tap "Save" to confirm

Changing the Notification Sound:

  1. Press "Menu" from the home screen and go to "Settings"
  2. Tap "Sound" > "Notifications"
  3. Choose the desired notification sound
  4. Tap "OK" to assign it
