Transferring Audio Files
Transferring Audio Files from a Windows PC:
- Establish a USB connection between the Galaxy Avant and your computer
- Drag the "Notification" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- If necessary, mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
- On the computer, an AutoPlay window should appear. From there, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Navigate to the location where you intend on transferring the files on your phone
- Open a second Windows Explorer window and locate the audio files stored on your PC's HDD
- Transfer the desired audio files to the phone's storage
- After the process is done, click the "Mass storage device" icon located in the system tray, and safely disconnect your handset from the PC
Transferring Audio Files from a Mac Computer:
NOTE: The first 2 steps should be skipped if you already have Samsung Kies installed on your Mac
- Launch the Internet browser on your Mac and visit Kies
- Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow any additional instructions to complete the installation process
- Once Kies has been installed, connect the Galaxy Avant to the Mac via USB
- From the phone's home screen, swipe the "notification" bar down
- Tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device (MTP)"
- From the main Kies screen, click the "Folder" icon associated with "External memory" or "Internal memory"
- Navigate to the location where the audio files should be transferred on your phone
- Locate the files stored on the Mac's HDD
- Drag the desired audio files, and drop them in Kies to commence the transfer
- Finally, safely disconnect the Galaxy Avant from the computer
Managing the Ringtone and Notification List
Adding Audio Files to the Ringtone List:
- From the home screen, press "Menu"
- Tap "Settings" > "Sound"
- Tap "Ringtones" and touch "Add"
- Choose to add ringtones using "Sound picker" or "Choose music track"
- Tap "Always" or "Just once", and tap "OK" to confirm
Adding Audio Files to the Notification Sound List:
- Launch the "My Files" application
- Tap "All files" and locate the audio files you wish to add
- Tap and hold a file, and select "Copy"
- Tap "Device storage" and navigate to, then open the "Notifications" folder
- Tap "Paste here"
Changing the Ringtone and Notification Sound
Changing the Phone's Ringtone:
- Tap "Menu" while viewing a home screen
- Tap "Settings" > "Sound" > "Ringtone"
- Select the desired ringtone and tap "OK" to set it
Assigning a Custom Ringtone to a Specific Contact:
NOTE: Custom ringtones cannot be set for contacts that are stored on the SIM card or the phone's internal memory
- Open the "Contacts" application
- Tap "Edit" > "Ringtone"
- Choose the ringtone you wish to set and tap "OK"
- Tap "Save" to confirm
Setting a Song as a Ringtone:
- Tap "Apps" from the home screen
- Go to "Settings" and tap "Music"
- Access the "Tracks" tab and select a song
- Tap "menu" > "Set as"
- Tap the "Auto recommendations" button
- Under "Set As", select "Phone ringtone", "Caller ringtone" or "Alarm ringtone"
- Tap "Done"
Changing the Notification Sound:
- Go to the phone's "Settings" menu
- Tap "Sound" > "Notifications
- Select a notification sound and tap "OK"
