Transferring Contacts using a Google Account:

By using a Google account, you can sync the contacts stored on your Galaxy SIII, allowing you to then re-sync the contacts from your account with the Samsung Galaxy Avant.

    1. On the SGSIII, sign in with your Google account
    2. Press "Menu" and tap "Settings"
    3. Swipe to "My accounts"
    4. Tap "Google" and then tap your "email address" or "user name"
    5. Tap "Sync now", or alternatively, clear and mark the check box next to "Sync Contacts"
    6. On the Galaxy Avant, register the same Google account
    7. Tap "Apps" > "Settings" and select the account
    8. Press "Menu" and tap "Sync all" The contacts will now be transferred over to the Galaxy Avant

Transferring Contacts via the "Contacts" App:

Using the pre-loaded "Contacts" application on the SGSIII, you can export your contacts in the form of a VCF file. The file can then be transferred over to the Galaxy Avant either via email, or through a computer.

    1. Launch the "Contacts" app on the Galaxy SIII
    2. Go to the "Contacts" tab
    3. Press "Menu" and tap "Contacts to display"
    4. Tap "All contacts" and press "Menu"
    5. Select "Import / Export" and tap "Export to SD card"
    6. Make sure you remember the backup file's name for future use and tap "OK"
    7. Open the email app and compose a new email
    8. Attach the exported VCF backup file to the email and send it to your Gmail address
    9. Switch over to the Samsung Galaxy Avant, and open the email
    10. Download the attached vCard file and launch the "Contacts" app
    11. Press "Menu" and tap "Import / Export"
    12. Tap "Import from SD card"
    13. If necessary, select an account and tap the vCard file to import it

NOTE: After you have exported the VCF file on the Galaxy SIII, you can transfer it over to the Galaxy Avant by connecting both smartphones to a computer via USB, and copying the file to the Avant's "sdcard" directory. Then, launch the "Contacts" app on the Avant, and import the VCF file using the "Import from SD Card" function explained above

    Transferring Contacts via "Send Anywhere":

Send Anywhere is a third party application that can be used for transferring contacts and other types of files from one device to another without needing access to a computer. The app uses a peer-2-peer connection for the transfer, and can be used as explained below:

    1. Visit the Google Play Store and install "Send Anywhere" on both smartphones
    2. Open the application on both Samsung devices
    3. On the Galaxy SIII, tap "Send" and select "Contacts"
    4. Mark the contacts you wish to transfer, and tap "Send"
    5. Finally, select the desired method of transfer. You can tap "Generate QR Code" on the SGSIII, and scan the code with the Avant's camera to commence the transfer. As an alternative, tap "Receive" on the Avant, and type in the randomly generated transfer code from the Galaxy SIII
