Transferring Audio Files to Use as Ringtones / Notifications

From a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Note Edge to your computer via USB
  2. On the smartphone, swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Media device (MTP)"
  3. In the AutoPlay window on the PC, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
  4. Open a second Windows Explorer window and locate the desired audio files on your computer
  5. Drag and drop the desired files on the Note 4's storage, preferably in the "Ringtones" and / or "Notifications" folders
  6. After the transfer is done, click the "Mass Storage Device" icon in the system tray, eject the smartphone and safely disconnect it from your computer

From a Mac Computer:

NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac, you should skip the first 3 steps

  1. Navigate to Kies
  2. Click "Download for Mac OS"
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Kies on the Mac
  4. Connect the Note Edge to the Mac via USB
  5. Drag the "Status" bar down and mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
  6. Launch Kies on the Mac and click the "Folder" icon associated with "Internal memory" or "External memory"
  7. In Kies, navigate to where you wish to add the audio files
  8. On the computer, locate the desired audio files, and drag > drop them into Kies
  9. After the transfer process is done, eject the Note Edge's virtual drive from the Mac's desktop and safely disconnect it from the USB port

Adding Transferred Items to the "Ringtones" List:

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings" and tap "Sound"
  3. Swipe to "Ringtones and Notifications" and tap "Ringtones"
  4. Tap "Add" and select "Sound picker"
  5. Choose to use the sound picker "Always" or "Just once"
  6. Select the desired music / audio files and tap "Done"

Setting Custom Ringtones & Notification Sounds

Changing the Phone's Ringtone (All Calls):

  1. Tap "Apps" from the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings" and tap "Sound"
  3. Swipe under "Ringtones and Notifications" and tap "Ringtones"
  4. Select the desired ringtone and tap "OK"

Changing a Contact's Ringtone:

NOTE: You can't assign custom ringtones to contacts that are stored on the SIM or the phone's internal memory.

  1. Launch the "Contacts" app
  2. Select the desired contact
  3. Tap the "Edit" icon depicting a pencil and select "Ringtone"
  4. Tap the desired ringtone and press "OK"
  5. Tap "Save" to apply the changes

Changing the Notification Sound:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings" > "Sound"
  3. Under "Ringtones and Notifications", tap "Notifications"
  4. Select the desired notification sound and tap "OK" to assign it
