Inserting & Removing the SD Card:
- To insert the SD card, turn off your smartphone
- Remove the back cover and slide the SD Card in its slot with the gold contacts facing down
- Replace the back cover and turn on your phone
- To remove the SD Card, go to "Apps" and tap "Settings"
- Tap "Storage" > "Unmount SD Card"
- Turn off your smartphone, remove the back cover and slide the SD card out
Checking the Amount of SD Card Space:
- On the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Go to "Settings" and tap "Storage"
- You can view the "Available space" and "Total space" values under "Device memory"
Formatting the SD Card:
WARNING! Formatting the SD Card will result in the deletion of all data stored on it. If necessary, back up your data before proceeding. To format the SD Card:
- Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
- Go to "Settings" and tap "Storage"
- Tap "Format SD Card"
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the format
Open / Delete SD Card Files
Deleting Files Using the Smartphone:
- From the home screen tap "Apps"
- Open "My Files" and scroll to "Local Storage"
- Tap "SD Card" > "SD memory card"
- Touch the "Menu" icon in the top-right corner
- Tap "Select" and mark the check boxes associated with the items you want to delete
- Tap "Done" and press "OK" to confirm
Opening or Deleting Files using a Windows Computer:
- Use the USB cable to connect the Galaxy Note Edge to your computer
- Drag the "Notification" bar down and tap "Media Device (MTP)"
- In the AutoPlay window on the computer, click "Open folder to view files"
- Access the "Removable Disk" directory representing the SD Card
- Open files / folders by double-clicking them
- To delete files, highlight them, right-click and select "Delete"
- When you're done, click the "Mass Storage Device" icon in the system tray and eject your smartphone
Opening or Deleting Files Using a Mac:
NOTE: You should skip the first 2 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac
- Open the Internet browser and visit Kies
- Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen instructions to download and install Kies on the Mac
- Connect the Note Edge to the Mac via USB
- Swipe the "Notification" bar down and mark the "Media Device (MTP)" check box
- Open Kies on the Mac computer and the Note Edge should appear under "Connected Devices"
- From the Kies main screen, click the "Folder" icon associated with "External memory" and locate the files you wish to delete or open
- Double-click a file to open
- To remove an item, mark the check box next to it, click the "Trash can" icon and press "OK"
- When done, eject the smartphone's virtual drive and safely disconnect the smartphone from the Mac
File Transfer
Transfer Files between the SD Card and a Windows PC:
- Connect your Galaxy Note Edge to your computer via USB
- Drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Media Device (MTP)"
- Click "Open folder to view files" > "OK" from the AutoPlay window on the PC
- Open the "Removable Disk" directory and locate the desired files stored on the SD card
- Copy the files and paste them on your computer's HDD (or the other way around)
- Safely disconnect your smartphone when the process is complete
Transfer Files from a Mac to the SD Card:
- Connect the Note Edge to your Mac via USB
- Swipe the "Notification" bar down and tap "Media Device (MTP)"
- Launch Kies on the Mac and click the "Folder" icon associated with "External memory"
- Locate the files you wish to transfer from the Mac using the file explorer
- Drag the files in Kies
- When the transfer is done, you can safely disconnect your smartphone
Transfer Files from the Internal Memory to the SD Card:
- Launch "My Files" on the Galaxy Note Edge
- Swipe to "Local Storage"
- Tap "Device storage" and locate the desired files stored on the internal memory
- Mark the check boxes next to the files you want to transfer
- Tap "Menu" > "Move" (or select "Copy" to create duplicate files)
- Tap "SD memory card" and go to the desired target location
- Tap "Move here" / "Paste here"
Transfer Files from the SD Card to the Internal Storage:
- Open "My Files" and swipe to "Local Storage"
- Tap "SD Card" > "SD memory card"
- Locate the files you wish to transfer and mark the check boxes associated with them
- Tap "Menu" and select "Copy" or "Move"
- Tap "Device storage" and go to the desired target location
- Tap "Paste here" or "Move here"
