Inserting & Removing the SD Card:

  1. To insert the SD card, turn off your smartphone
  2. Remove the back cover and slide the SD Card in its slot with the gold contacts facing down
  3. Replace the back cover and turn on your phone
  4. To remove the SD Card, go to "Apps" and tap "Settings"
  5. Tap "Storage" > "Unmount SD Card"
  6. Turn off your smartphone, remove the back cover and slide the SD card out

Checking the Amount of SD Card Space:

  1. On the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Go to "Settings" and tap "Storage"
  3. You can view the "Available space" and "Total space" values under "Device memory"

Formatting the SD Card:

WARNING! Formatting the SD Card will result in the deletion of all data stored on it. If necessary, back up your data before proceeding. To format the SD Card:

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings" and tap "Storage"
  3. Tap "Format SD Card"
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the format

Open / Delete SD Card Files

Deleting Files Using the Smartphone:

  1. From the home screen tap "Apps"
  2. Open "My Files" and scroll to "Local Storage"
  3. Tap "SD Card" > "SD memory card"
  4. Touch the "Menu" icon in the top-right corner
  5. Tap "Select" and mark the check boxes associated with the items you want to delete
  6. Tap "Done" and press "OK" to confirm

Opening or Deleting Files using a Windows Computer:

  1. Use the USB cable to connect the Galaxy Note Edge to your computer
  2. Drag the "Notification" bar down and tap "Media Device (MTP)"
  3. In the AutoPlay window on the computer, click "Open folder to view files"
  4. Access the "Removable Disk" directory representing the SD Card
  5. Open files / folders by double-clicking them
  6. To delete files, highlight them, right-click and select "Delete"
  7. When you're done, click the "Mass Storage Device" icon in the system tray and eject your smartphone

Opening or Deleting Files Using a Mac:

NOTE: You should skip the first 2 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac

  1. Open the Internet browser and visit Kies
  2. Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen instructions to download and install Kies on the Mac
  3. Connect the Note Edge to the Mac via USB
  4. Swipe the "Notification" bar down and mark the "Media Device (MTP)" check box
  5. Open Kies on the Mac computer and the Note Edge should appear under "Connected Devices"
  6. From the Kies main screen, click the "Folder" icon associated with "External memory" and locate the files you wish to delete or open
  7. Double-click a file to open
  8. To remove an item, mark the check box next to it, click the "Trash can" icon and press "OK"
  9. When done, eject the smartphone's virtual drive and safely disconnect the smartphone from the Mac

File Transfer

Transfer Files between the SD Card and a Windows PC:

  1. Connect your Galaxy Note Edge to your computer via USB
  2. Drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Media Device (MTP)"
  3. Click "Open folder to view files" > "OK" from the AutoPlay window on the PC
  4. Open the "Removable Disk" directory and locate the desired files stored on the SD card
  5. Copy the files and paste them on your computer's HDD (or the other way around)
  6. Safely disconnect your smartphone when the process is complete

Transfer Files from a Mac to the SD Card:

  1. Connect the Note Edge to your Mac via USB
  2. Swipe the "Notification" bar down and tap "Media Device (MTP)"
  3. Launch Kies on the Mac and click the "Folder" icon associated with "External memory"
  4. Locate the files you wish to transfer from the Mac using the file explorer
  5. Drag the files in Kies
  6. When the transfer is done, you can safely disconnect your smartphone

Transfer Files from the Internal Memory to the SD Card:

  1. Launch "My Files" on the Galaxy Note Edge
  2. Swipe to "Local Storage"
  3. Tap "Device storage" and locate the desired files stored on the internal memory
  4. Mark the check boxes next to the files you want to transfer
  5. Tap "Menu" > "Move" (or select "Copy" to create duplicate files)
  6. Tap "SD memory card" and go to the desired target location
  7. Tap "Move here" / "Paste here"

Transfer Files from the SD Card to the Internal Storage:

  1. Open "My Files" and swipe to "Local Storage"
  2. Tap "SD Card" > "SD memory card"
  3. Locate the files you wish to transfer and mark the check boxes associated with them
  4. Tap "Menu" and select "Copy" or "Move"
  5. Tap "Device storage" and go to the desired target location
  6. Tap "Paste here" or "Move here"
