Transferring Audio Files for Ringtones & Notification Sounds
From a Windows PC:
- Establish a USB connection between the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 and your computer
- Swipe the "Status" bar down on your smartphone, and tap "Media device (MTP)"
- In the AutoPlay window on the computer, click to "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Launch a second Windows Explorer window and navigate to the desired audio files stored on your computer
- Copy the files, and transfer them on your phone's storage, preferably in the "Ringtones" and / or "Notifications" folders
- Once the transfer is complete, click the "Mass Storage Device" icon located in the system tray and eject your phone's storage
- Safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer
From a Mac Computer:
NOTE: In case Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac, skip the first 3 steps
- Launch the Internet browser on your Mac and navigate to Kies
- Click "Download for Mac OS"
- Follow the on-screen prompts to install Kies on your Mac
- Use the USB cable to connect the Galaxy Mega 2 to your Mac
- Swipe the "Status" bar down and mark the check box associated with "Media device (MTP)"
- Launch Kies on the Mac and click the "Folder" icon associated with "External memory" or "Internal memory"
- In Kies, locate the directory where you want to transfer the audio files
- Locate the desired files on your computer, and drag > drop them in Kies
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone's virtual storage and safely disconnect it from the Mac
Setting Custom Ringtones & Notification Sounds
Changing the Phone's Ringtone for All Calls:
- While viewing the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
- Access "Settings"
- Tap "Sound" and under "Ringtones & Notifications", tap "Ringtones"
- Select the ringtone you wish to set
- Tap "OK"
Changing the Ringtone of a Single Contact:
NOTE: Contacts stored on the phone's internal memory or the SIM card cannot be personalized with custom ringtones
- Launch the "Contacts" application
- Select the contact you wish to edit
- Tap the "Edit" icon shaped like a pencil and select "Ringtone"
- Choose the desired ringtone and tap "OK"
- To apply the changes, tap "Save"
Setting a Custom Notification Sound:
- From the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Go to "Settings"
- Tap "Sound"
- Swipe to "Ringtones and Notifications" and tap "Notifications"
- Select the notification sound you wish to set, and tap "OK"
