Check the Amount of SD Card Space:
- Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
- Go to "Settings"
- Swipe to "System" and tap "Storage"
- You can view the "Total space" and "Available space" values under "SD Card"
Format the SD Card:
WARNING! Formatting the SD card will result in the deletion of all data stored on it. Before proceeding, it's recommended that you back up your important data stored on the device.
- Tap "Apps" from the home screen
- Go to "Settings"
- Swipe to "System" and tap "Storage"
- Tap "Format SD Card" under "SD Card"
- Tap "Format SD Card" again and press "Delete all" to confirm
Opening or Deleting SD Card Files
Deleting Files Using the Smartphone:
- Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
- Launch "My Files" and scroll to "Local Storage"
- Tap "SD Card"
- Tap "SD memory card" and tap the "Menu" icon located in the top-right corner
- Tap "Select" and mark the check boxes next to the items you want to remove
- Tap "Done" and press "OK"
Opening or Deleting Files Using a Windows PC:
- Connect the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 to your computer via USB
- Swipe the "Notification" bar down and tap "Media Device (MTP)"
- From the AutoPlay window on your computer, click "Open folder to view files"
- Access the "Removable Disk" folder representing the SD card storage
- Open files or folders by double-clicking them
- To remove files from the SD card, select them and press "Delete" on the keyboard
- When you're done with opening or deleting items, click the "Mass Storage Device" icon located in the system tray and eject your phone
- Safely disconnect your smartphone from the PC
Opening or Deleting Files Using a Mac Computer:
NOTE: The first 2 steps should be skipped if Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac computer
- Launch the Internet browser on your Mac and visit Kies
- Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen steps to install Kies on your Mac
- Connect the Mega 2 to your Mac via USB
- Drag the "Status" bar down and mark the "Media Device (MTP)" check box
- Launch Kies and the Galaxy Mega 2 should be displayed under "Connected Devices"
- In Kies, click the "Folder" icon next to "External memory"
- Locate the files you wish to remove or open
- Double-click a file to open it. TO remove an item, mark the check box associated with it, click the icon shaped like a "Trash Can" and click "OK"
- After you're done opening or viewing files, eject the smartphone's drive from the Mac's desktop and safely disconnect your device
File Transfer
Transferring Files Between the SD Card and a Windows PC:
- Establish a USB connection between the Galaxy Mega 2 and computer
- Swipe the "Notification" bar down and tap "Media Device (MTP)"
- Click "Open folder to view files" > "OK" from the AutoPlay window on the computer
- Open the "Removable Disk" directory
- Locate the desired files on the SD card
- Transfer the desired files on the computer's HDD, or vice versa
- Once the transfer is done, disconnect your smartphone from the computer
Transfer Files From a Mac to the SD:
- Connect the Galaxy Mega 2 to the Mac computer via USB
- Set the smartphone as a "Media Device (MTP)" from the notification area
- Open Kies on the Mac
- Click the "Folder" icon associated with "External memory"
- Use the file explorer to locate the files you want to transfer from the Mac
- Drag the files and drop them in the "External memory" area in Kies
- After the process is done, eject the phone's storage and safely disconnect the Mega 2 from the Mac
Transfer Files from the Internal Memory to the SD Card:
- Open "My Files" on the smartphone
- Go to "local Storage" and tap "Device storage"
- Locate the desired files on the internal memory
- Mark the check boxes associated with the desired files
- Tap "Menu" > "Move" (or select "Copy" instead if you wish to duplicate the files)
- Tap "SD memory card" and select a location
- Tap "Move here" / "Paste here"
Transfer Files from the SD Card to the Internal Storage:
- Launch "My Files" and go to "Local Storage"
- Tap "SD Card" > "SD memory card"
- Locate the files you want to transfer and mark the check boxes associated with them
- Press "Menu" and tap "Copy" or "Move"
- Tap "Device storage" and go to the desired target location
- There, tap "Move here" or "Paste here"
