Enabling Power Saving Mode:
- From the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Access "Settings" and swipe to "System"
- Tap "Power saving" > "power saving mode"
- Move the switch to "ON"
- Customize how Power saving mode works. You can enable "block background data", "restrict performance" etc.
Enabling Ultra Power Saving Mode:
- Access the phone's "Settings" menu
- Swipe to "System" and tap "Power saving"
- Tap "Ultra Power saving mode" and enable the switch to "ON"
- Customize how Ultra power saving mode works by enabling applications that should be affected by this mode
- To add more applications, tap "+"
Adjusting the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Tap "Apps" > "Settings"
- Under "Quick settings" tap "Display"
- Tap "Brightness" and clear the "Automatic brightness" check box if necessary
- Drag the slider towards the left and adjust the desired level
- Tap "OK" and go to "Screen timeout"
- Select a lower timeout value, like "15 seconds"
Disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth and GPS:
NOTE: A smartphone's connectivity features can greatly affect your phone's battery life. As such, you should disable these features whenever they are not in use.
- From the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Access "Settings" and swipe to "Network Connections"
- Tap "Tethering & Mobile Hotspot"
- Set the "Mobile Hotspot" switch to "OFF"
- Return to the home screen and drag the "notification" bar down
- From the notification area, tap the quick toggles associated with "Wi-Fi", "Bluetooth" and "Location" to disable these features
Application Sync Settings:
NOTE: If you set your applications to sync less data (or sync data less often) you might be able to squeeze a bit more battery life on your phone throughout the day. To adjust sync settings:
- Access the "Settings" menu
- Swipe to "User and Backup" and tap "Accounts"
- Tap the "Accounts" tab and select the type of account whose sync settings you want to adjust
- Tap your "user name" or "email address" at the top of the screen to gain access to additional sync settings
Disable Background Data:
- From the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Access "Settings" and swipe to "Network Connections"
- Tap "Data usage"
- Press "Menu" and mark the check box next to "Restrict background data"
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain applications can affect your phone's battery life even when they are not in use. There are apps that run processes / services in the background, so you may want to keep an eye on them. To disable or remove third party apps you don't use:
- Tap "Apps" and go to "Settings"
- Swipe to "Applications"
- Tap "Application manager"
- Access the "Downloaded" tab
- Select the desired app and tap "Disable"
- If you want to completely remove the app, tap "Uninstall"
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- From the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Access "Settings" and swipe to "Network Connections"
- Tap "More networks" > "Mobile networks"
- Tap "Network mode" and select "GSM only" to restrict 4G connectivity
- To return to 4G/LTE, tap either "LTE / WCDMA / GSM (auto connect)" or "WCDMA / GSM (auto connect)"
Keep your Phone Up to Date:
NOTE: Software updates sometimes contain potential bugfixes and / or improvement to battery life, so it's recommended to keep your phone up to date. To check for new updates:
- From the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Go to "Settings" and swipe to "System"
- Tap "About device" > "Software update"
- Assuming that an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it
