Transfer Audio Files to Use as Ringtones or Notification Sounds
From a Windows PC:
- Connect the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active to your computer via USB
- Swipe the "Status" bar down and if necessary, tap "Connected as a media device" and enable "Media device (MTP)"
- In the AutoPlay window on the computer, click "open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Open a second Windows Explorer window and locate the desired audio files on your PC
- Copy the files, and transfer them on your phone's memory - preferably in the "Notifications" and / or "Ringtones" folder(s)
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage from the system tray and safely disconnect it from the PC
From a Mac:
NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if Kies is already installed on your Mac
- Open the Internet browser on the Mac and navigate to Kies
- Click "Download for Mac OS"
- Follow the on-screen prompts to download and install Kies on the Mac
- Connect the Galaxy S6 Active to the Mac via USB (if necessary enable "Media Device" from the notification area
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- In Kies, click the "Folder" icon associated with "Internal memory" or "External memory", depending where you wish to add the audio files
- On the Mac, locate the desired audio files
- Drag them, and drop them in Kies to begin the transfer
- Once the transfer is done, eject the Galaxy S6 Active's virtual drive and safely disconnect the smartphone
Add Transferred Audio Files to the Ringtones List:
- Tap "Apps" on the home screen
- Go to "Settings"
- Tap "Sounds and notifications" under "Device"
- Under "Sound", tap "Ringtones and Sounds"
- Tap "Ringtone" > "Add ringtone"
- Complete the action using "OneDrive" or "Sound picker", then tap "Always" or "Just once"
- Tap the desired audio file and press "Done"
Change the Phone's Ringtone Settings
Change the Ringtone for All Calls:
- Go to the phone's "Settings" menu
- Under "Device", tap "Sound and notifications"
- Tap "Ringtones and sound"
- Tap "Ringtone" and select the desired ringtone from the list
- Tap the "Back" arrow and the changes should be automatically saved
Change the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:
NOTE: You cannot set custom ringtones to contacts stored on the phone memory or SIM card.
- Launch the "Contacts" app
- Select the desired contact and tap the "Edit" button
- Tap "Ringtone" and select the desired ringtone
- Tap "OK" > "Save"
Change the Notification Sound:
- On the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Tap "Settings" > "Sounds and notifications"
- Under "Sound", tap "Ringtones and sounds"
- Select the desired notification type
- Tap and select the desired notification sound
- Tap the "Back" arrow and changes will be saved automatically
