From a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Note 5 to your computer via USB
  2. Swipe the “Status” bar down, tap “Connected as a media device” and make sure “Media device (MTP)” is enabled
  3. In the AutoPlay window on the computer, click “Open device to view files using Windows Explorer”
  4. Open a second Explorer window and locate the desired audio files on your computer
  5. Copy the files and transfer them on your phone storage (first Explorer window), preferably in the “Ringtones” and / or “Notifications” folders
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage and disconnect the device from the USB

From a Mac Computer:

NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on your computer

  1. Navigate to Kies
  2. Click “Download for Mac OS”
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to install Kies on the Mac
  4. Connect the Note 5 to the Mac via USB
  5. If necessary, enable “Media Device (MTP)” from the notification area
  6. Launch Kies on the Mac
  7. In Kies, click the “Folder” icon associated with “Internal memory” or “External memory” (depending where you want to add the music files)
  8. Open a file explorer window and locate the audio files on your Mac
  9. Drag the desired files and drop them in Kies
  10. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage by dragging it in the “trash can” and safely disconnect it from the computer

Add Transferred Audio Files to the Ringtone List:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Tap “Sound”
  4. Under “Ringtones and Notifications” tap “Ringtones”
  5. Tap “Add” and choose “Sound picker”
  6. Tap “Always” or “Just once”
  7. Select the desired audio file and tap “Done”

Change the Ringtone for All Calls:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Tap “Sound”
  4. Under “Ringtones and Notifications” tap “Ringtones”
  5. Select the desired ringtone and tap “OK”

Change the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:

  1. Launch “Contacts”
  2. Select the desired contact
  3. Tap the “Edit” button shaped like a pencil
  4. Tap “Ringtone” and select the desired ringtone
  5. Tap “OK” > “Save” to confirm

Change the Notifications Sound:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Tap “Sound”
  4. Under “Ringtones and Notifications” tap “Notifications”
  5. Select the desired sound and tap “OK”
