From a Windows PC:
- Connect the Note 5 to your computer via USB
- Swipe the Status bar down, tap Connected as a media device and make sure Media device (MTP) is enabled
- In the AutoPlay window on the computer, click Open device to view files using Windows Explorer
- Open a second Explorer window and locate the desired audio files on your computer
- Copy the files and transfer them on your phone storage (first Explorer window), preferably in the Ringtones and / or Notifications folders
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage and disconnect the device from the USB
From a Mac Computer:
NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on your computer
- Navigate to Kies
- Click Download for Mac OS
- Follow the on-screen prompts to install Kies on the Mac
- Connect the Note 5 to the Mac via USB
- If necessary, enable Media Device (MTP) from the notification area
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- In Kies, click the Folder icon associated with Internal memory or External memory (depending where you want to add the music files)
- Open a file explorer window and locate the audio files on your Mac
- Drag the desired files and drop them in Kies
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage by dragging it in the trash can and safely disconnect it from the computer
Add Transferred Audio Files to the Ringtone List:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Tap Sound
- Under Ringtones and Notifications tap Ringtones
- Tap Add and choose Sound picker
- Tap Always or Just once
- Select the desired audio file and tap Done
Change the Ringtone for All Calls:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Tap Sound
- Under Ringtones and Notifications tap Ringtones
- Select the desired ringtone and tap OK
Change the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:
- Launch Contacts
- Select the desired contact
- Tap the Edit button shaped like a pencil
- Tap Ringtone and select the desired ringtone
- Tap OK > Save to confirm
Change the Notifications Sound:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Tap Sound
- Under Ringtones and Notifications tap Notifications
- Select the desired sound and tap OK
