Turn On Power Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Under System tap Battery
- Tap Power saving mode and set the slider to ON
- Select the battery percentage at which power saving enables automatically
Turn On Ultra Power Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps and go to Settings
- Scroll to System and tap Battery
- Enable Ultra power saving mode
- Tap Agree
- To add more apps in Ultra Power Saving Mode, tap +
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling connectivity features when they are not in use.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Connections and tap Tethering & Mobile hotspot
- Disable the Hotspot switch
- From the home screen, swipe the status bar down
- Tap the tiles next to Wi-Fi, Location (GPS) and Bluetooth to disable these features
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- Open Settings and scroll to Connections
- Tap More connection settings > Mobile networks
- Tap Network mode
- Choose GSM only to use 2G only
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Tap Screen timeout and select a lower value, like 15 seconds
- If necessary, disable Automatic brightness
- Drag the slider to the left to decrease the level of brightness
Disable Background Data:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Connections and tap Data usage
- Tap More > Restrict background data
- Tap OK to confirm
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by reducing the amount of data being synced by your accounts / apps.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select the desired account
- Clear the check boxes next to the sync options you want to turn off
- Tap Menu > Sync now
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect your phones battery performance even when you dont use them, assuming that the apps run regular background processes. As such you could improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party apps.
- Access the Settings menu
- Scroll to Device and tap Applications
- Tap Application manager
- Swipe to Downloaded and select the desired app
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
- To disable the application, tap Disable / Force stop
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, thus you should keep your phones OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Swipe to System and tap About device
- Tap System updates
- Follow the on-screen prompts if an update is available, to download and apply it
