Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Under “System”, tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Power saving mode” to enable the feature
  5. To adjust the battery percentage at which the battery saving mode turns on automatically, tap “Start power saving”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Tap “Display” under “Device”
  4. If necessary, disable “Automatic brightness”
  5. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease screen luminosity
  6. Return to the “Display” menu
  7. Tap “Screen timeout”
  8. Select a lower timeout value, such as “15 seconds”

Disable Connectivity When Unused, and Switch to 2G:

NOTE: By turning off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS when not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run. Furthermore, if you are running low on battery and you don’t have access to a wall socket, you can prolong battery life by switching to 2G network instead.

  1. Open the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Connections”
  3. Select the connectivity option you want to disable
  4. Tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot”
  5. Tap the switch to “OFF”
  6. To switch to 2G, first go to “Settings”
  7. Tap “More connection settings” under “Connections”
  8. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Network mode”
  9. Select “GSM only”

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Certain third party applications on your device can negatively affect battery performance even when not in use – due to the fact that certain third party apps perform regular background processes. Thus, by turning off or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Access “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Applications”
  4. Tap “Application manager” and access the “Downloaded” tab
  5. Select the desired app and tap “Disable” / “Force stop”
  6. Or tap “Uninstall” to remove the app completely from the phone

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing the sync settings so your phone syncs less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer and launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  3. Select an account type and your account
  4. Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

Disable Background Data:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Connections” and tap “Data usage”
  3. Tap “More” > “Restrict background data”
  4. Tap “OK”

Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: New software versions can include battery life improvements, so by keeping your OS up to date, you can improve battery life. To check for updates:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll down to “System” and tap “About device”
  3. Verify if new software versions are available, and follow the on-screen steps if necessary
