How-to: Transfer iPhone Contacts to the Samsung Galaxy J2

Sync Contacts via iTunes:

NOTE: If you have iTunes installed on a computer with an active Internet connection, you can use the application to sync your iPhone contacts with your Google account. Then, you can sync the account data with the Galaxy J2.

1. On the computer, launch iTunes
2. Connect the iPhone to your PC using the Lightning cable
3. In iTunes, click the iPhone and go to the “Info” tab
4. Turn on “Sync Contacts With”
5. From the drop-down menu, select “Google Contacts”
6. Sign in with your Google account or click “Configure” and select an existing account if available
7. Click “Apply” and wait for the sync to complete
8. Once the sync is done, switch to the Galaxy J2, register the same Google account, and allow it to sync contacts with your Samsung device

From an iCloud Backup:

NOTE: In case your iPhone contacts are already backed up on your iCloud account, you can access the account on a computer connected to the Internet, and export the contacts in vCard format.

1. Launch the Internet browser on the PC
2. Visit https://www.icloud.com/
3. Sign in with your iCloud account
4. Click “Contacts” and select the contacts you want to share
5. Click “Settings” > “Export vCard”
6. Wait for the vCard to be downloaded on the PC, then import it to “Google Contacts”
7. Alternatively, skip the step above and instead, connect the Galaxy J2 to your computer via USB, transfer the vCard to the phone storage, and use the “Contacts” app to import it to your phonebook

Using “My Contacts Backup”:

NOTE: The methods above require access to a computer with an active Internet connection. However, you can also transfer your iPhone contacts using third party applications. My Contacts Backup is an iOS app that can be used to back up and transfer contacts via email.

1. Visit the App Store and install “My Contacts Backup” on the iPhone
2. Launch the app
3. Tap “Backup” and wait for your iPhone contacts to be backed up in vCard format
4. Once the file is created, tap “Email”
5. Compose a new email and make sure the vCard is attached
6. Send the email to your own address
7. Next, switch to the Galaxy J2, open the email, and download the vCard attachment
8. Import the vCard to your phonebook using “Contacts”

Via “Send Anywhere”:

NOTE: Another third party app you can use is Send Anywhere. The application uses a peer-to-peer connection to transfer contacts and other file types, even cross platform, without requiring a computer.

1. Go to the App Store and install “Send Anywhere” to your computer
2. Install the app on the Galaxy J2 via the Play Store
3. Launch the application on both smartphones
4. On the iPhone, tap “Send” > “Contacts”
5. Select the contacts you want to share and tap “Send”
6. Lastly, select a transfer method, such as “Receive” on the Galaxy J2, or “Generate QR Code” on the iPhone
