Back Up Data:
- Open the apps drawer and go to Settings
- Under User and Backup, tap Backup and reset
- Tap Backup account > Add account if necessary
- Sign in with your Google account
- Turn on Backup account and Backup my data
Back Up Contacts on a Google or Samsung Account:
- Launch Contacts
- Tap More > Settings
- Tap Move device contacts to
- If necessary, select a Samsung or Google account
- Go back to the home screen and access Settings
- Tap Accounts
- Select the desired account, tap More > Sync now
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Galaxy J2 to your computer via USB
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Make sure Media device (MTP) is turned on
- On the computer, open the File Explorer
- Locate the media files on your phone and copy them
- Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
Back Up Media Files on a Mac (via Kies):
NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, you should skip the first 3 steps below.
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit Kies Support
- Click Kies 3 for Mac and download & install Kies on the Mac
- Establish a USB connection between the Galaxy J2 and your computer
- On the phones home screen, drag the notification bar down
- Make sure Media device (MTP) is selected
- Launch Kies on the Mac and click the Back up / restore tab
- Go to the Backup tab
- Check the boxes associated with Music, Photos, and other types of media files you want to back up
- Click Backup
- After the process is complete, drag the phones virtual drive from the desktop into the trash can to eject it
- Its now safe to disconnect the phone from the USB cord
