Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: If one of your applications crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or doesn’t work as intended, you might be able to fix these problems by clearing the app’s cache / data.

WARNING! By clearing the app’s data you will lose all personal data stored within the application, such as profiles, saved games, high scores, login and credit card information etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear only the app’s cache and avoid clearing the app’s data.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Under “Applications”, tap “Application manager
  4. Access the “All” or “Downloaded” tabs
  5. Select the desired app
  6. Tap “Clear cache
  7. If clearing the cache didn’t fix the app behavior, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (read WARNING above)

Wipe the Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, or runs out of storage inexplicably, you might be able to solve these problems by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can have similar effects as a factory reset, without losing any of the personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory. To wipe the cache partition:

  1. First, turn off the phone
  2. Next, press and hold “Power”, “Home”, and “Volume Up” at the same time
  3. At the “Samsung” logo, release “Power
  4. At the “Android” logo, release the other buttons too
  5. You should now have access to the recovery menu. Use “Volume down” to navigate the menu and highlight “wipe cache partition
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. Once the cache partition is wiped, highlight “Reboot system now
  8. Press “Power” to confirm and restart your device

Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: In case you have installed a third party application that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, all third party apps are turned off by default.

  1. To enter safe mode, first turn off the phone
  2. Then, press and hold “Power
  3. When the “Samsung” logo appears, release “Power” and immediately press and hold “Volume down” instead
  4. After the phone finishes restarting, release the buttons. A “Safe Mode” label should be visible in the lower-left area of the screen
  5. Access the “Settings” menu and scroll to “Device
  6. Tap “Applications” > “Application manager
  7. Go to “Downloaded
  8. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” twice to confirm
  9. Once the app has been removed, you can exit safe mode by holding “Power” and selecting “Restart” in the pop-up menu
