Transfer Audio Files from a Windows Computer:

  1. Establish a USB connection between the Samsung device and your computer
  2. Enable “File Transfer (MTP)” / “Media device (MTP)” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. On the computer, launch the File Explorer
  4. Locate the desired audio files on the computer and copy them
  5. Transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the “Ringtones” / “Notifications” directories
  6. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Transfer Audio Files from a Mac Computer:

NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac.

  1. Open the Internet browser on the Mac and visit Kies Support
  2. Click “Kies 3 for Mac
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install Kies on your Mac
  4. Once done, connect the Samsung device to your Mac via USB
  5. Enable “File Transfer (MTP)” / “Media device (MTP)” at the prompt or from the “Notification” shade
  6. Open Kies on the Mac and click the “Folder” icon associated with “External memory” or “Internal memory
  7. Launch the File Finder on the Mac and locate the desired audio files on the computer storage
  8. Drag the files and drop them in Kies to start the transfer
  9. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage by dragging and dropping its virtual drive from the desktop and into the “trash can
  10. Safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Add Audio Files to the List of Ringtones:

  1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Sounds and notifications
  3. Tap “Ringtone and sounds” > “Ringtone
  4. Tap “Add ringtone” and select “Sound picker
  5. Choose to use the option “Always” or “Just once
  6. Select the desired audio files and tap “Done

Change the Phone’s General Ringtone:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device
  3. Tap “Sounds and notifications
  4. Tap “Ringtones and Sounds” under “Sound
  5. Tap “Ringtone” and select the desired ringtone
  6. Press “Back” to confirm the changes

Change a Contact’s Ringtone:

NOTE: Custom ringtones cannot be set for contacts located on the SIM card or the phone’s internal memory.

  1. Launch “Contacts
  2. Select the contact whose ringtone you wish to change
  3. Tap “Edit” > “Ringtone
  4. Select the ringtone you want to set and tap “OK
  5. Tap “Save” to confirm

Change the Notification Sound:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Tap “Sounds and notifications” under “Device
  3. Under “Sounds” tap “Ringtones and sound
  4. Select a notification type and the notification sound you want to use
  5. Tap “Back” to confirm
