Back Up Application Data:
- Tap “Apps” on the home screen
- Go to “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
- To back up Wi-Fi passwords, account data, and settings to your Google account, enable “Back up my data”
- Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your account
Back Up Contacts to Storage:
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “Applications” under “Device”
- Tap “Contacts” > “Import / Export contacts”
- Choose “Export”
- Select to export contacts on “SD card” or “Storage”
- Tap “OK” to confirm
Back Up Contacts on a Google Account:
- Open “Settings”
- Tap “Accounts” and select “Google”
- Select the desired Google account
- Make sure “Contacts” is checked
- Tap “More” > “Sync Now”
Back Up Media Files on the SD Card:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch “My Files”
- Tap “Device storage” under “Local storage”
- Tap “More” > “Edit”
- Locate and select the desired media files
- Tap “More” > “Copy” and select “SD card”
- Tap “Create folder” or alternatively, navigate to and select the desired destination folder
- Tap “Paste here”
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) to your computer via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate and copy the media files on your phone
- Paste the files in the desired backup location on the computer
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: You can skip the first 3 steps below if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.
- Open the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit Kies Support
- Click “Kies 3 for Mac” to download and install Kies on the Mac
- Connect the Samsung phone to the Mac via USB
- Enable “Media Device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
- Launch Kies on the Mac and access the “Back up / Restore” tab
- Click the “Backup” tab
- Tick the boxes associated with “Music”, “Photos” and other media file types you want to back up
- Click “Backup” to confirm
- Once the backup is complete, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the “Trash can” to eject it
- You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
