Back Up App Data:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up Wi-Fi passwords, settings and account data to your Google account
- Turn ON “Automatic restore” to allow app data to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your backup account
Back Up Contacts to Storage or SD Card:
- Go to “Settings”
- Scroll to “Device” and tap “Applications”
- Tap “Contacts” > “Import / Export contacts”
- Select “Export”
- Choose to export contacts on “Storage” or “SD Card”
- Tap “OK” to confirm
Back Up Contacts on a Google Account:
- Open “Settings”
- Tap “Accounts” > “Google”
- Select the desired account and ensure “Contacts” is checked
- Tap “More” > “Sync now” to confirm
Back Up Media Files on the SD Card:
- Tap “Apps” on the home screen
- Open “My Files”
- Scroll to “Local storage” and tap “Device storage”
- Tap “More” > “Edit”
- Locate and select the media files you want to back up
- Tap “More” > “Copy” > “SD Card”
- Navigate to and select the desired folder, or tap “Create folder”
- Tap “Paste here” to confirm
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Samsung device to your computer via USB
- Turn ON “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate and copy the media files on the phone
- Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: You can skip the first 3 steps below if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Head down to Kies Support
- Click “Kies 3 for Mac” to download and install Kies on the Mac
- Connect the Samsung phone to your Mac via USB
- On the Samsung device, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- In Kies, access the “Back up / Restore” tab and go to “Backup”
- Tick the boxes associated with “Photos”, “Music”, and other media file types you want to back up
- Click “Backup” to confirm
- After the backup is done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the “Trash can” to eject it
- You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
