Back Up & Restore App Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Scroll to and tap “Cloud and accounts
  4. Tap “Backup & restore
  5. Tick the “Back up my data” check box to back up account and app data, Wi-Fi passwords and other settings to your backup account
  6. Tick “Automatic restore” to restore app data and setting when reinstalling apps

Back Up & Restore Contacts on a Samsung or Google Account:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Tap “Cloud and accounts
  4. Access “Accounts
  5. Tap the account you want to use for contact syncing
  6. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now

NOTE: Contacts backed up in this manner can be automatically restored when signing in with the backup account.

Back Up Contacts to the SD Card:

  1. Launch “Contacts
  2. Tap “menu” > “Settings
  3. If needed, tap “Contacts to display” > “All contacts
  4. Tap “Import / Export contacts
  5. Select “Export to SD card
  6. Review the backup file name for future use and tap “OK” to confirm

Restore Contacts from SD Card:

  1. Launch “Contacts
  2. Tap “Menu” > “Settings
  3. If necessary, switch to “All contacts
  4. Tap “Import / Export contacts
  5. Tap “Import from SD Card
  6. Select the backup file to restore and follow any on-screen prompts to complete the process

Back Up Media Files On The Phone:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “My Files
  3. Tap “My Device” > “Menu
  4. Tap “Share” and select the media files you want to back up
  5. Tap “Share” to confirm and select the desired sharing location

Restore Media Files from the SD Card:

  1. Open “My Files” and access “SD Card
  2. Tap “Menu” > “Edit
  3. Tick the check boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
  4. Tap “Menu” > “move” > “My device
  5. Tap “move here
  6. Tap the folder name or tap “Create folder
  7. Lastly, press “Move here” to restore media

Back Up & Restore Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Samsung device to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “File transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the “notification” area
  3. On the computer, launch the File Explorer
  4. Navigate to the media files on the phone storage and copy them
  5. Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

NOTE: To restore media files form the PC, follow the first 3 steps above, locate the media file backups on the PC, copy and transfer the files back on the phone storage.
