Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Access the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “System
  3. Tap “Battery” and enable “Battery saving mode
  4. Tap “Start power saving” and select a battery percentage at which the mode should enable automatically

Disable Unused Connectivity Features and Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: By turning off the phone’s connectivity features (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS etc.) when unused, you can improve battery life in the long run. Furthermore, to conserve battery life until the next recharge you can temporarily switch to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Connections
  3. Turn the available connectivity options OFF
  4. Tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot” and disable the feature
  5. To switch to 2G networks, return to “Settings” and tpa “Connections
  6. Next, tap “more connection settings” and tap “Mobile networks
  7. Select “Network mode” > “GSM only

Disable Background Data:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Tap “Data usage” under “Connections
  3. Tap “More” > “Restrict background data
  4. Tap “OK” to confirm

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device
  3. Tap “Display
  4. Optionally, enable or disable “Automatic brightness
  5. To decrease screen luminosity, drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen
  6. Return to “Display” and tap “Screen timeout
  7. Select a lower timeout value

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party app perform regular background processes, which can potentially affect battery life when the apps are not in use. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Device
  3. Tap “Applications” > “Application manager
  4. Go to “Downloaded
  5. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to turn the app OFF
  6. To remove the app, tap “uninstall” > “OK” to confirm

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your apps/accounts, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts
  3. Select an account type
  4. Tap an account and clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the software updated at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Scroll to “System” and tap “About device
  3. Verify if new updates are available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install any available updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
