Back Up & Restore App Data:
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to and tap “Cloud and accounts”
- Tap “Backup & Restore”
- Tick the “Back up my data” check box to back up app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and settings to your backup account
- Tick “Automatic restore” to allow app data and settings to be restored when reinstalling apps or signing in with your Google backup account
Back Up & Restore Contacts Using a Samsung or Google Account:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “Cloud and accounts”
- Go to “Accounts”
- Select the account you want to use for contact syncing
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”
NOTE: Contacts backed up using the method above can be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your backup account.
Back Up contacts on the SD Card:
- Open “Contacts”
- Tap “Menu” > “Settings”
- Tap “Contacts to display” if necessary, and switch to “All contacts”
- Tap “Import / Export contacts”
- Select “Export to SD card”
- Review the backup file name for future use
- Tap “OK” to confirm
Restore Contacts from SD Card:
- Open “Contacts”
- Tap “Menu” > “Settings”
- If necessary, switch to “All contacts”
- Tap “Import/ Export contacts”
- Tap “Import from SD card” and select the backup file you want to restore
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process
Back Up Media Files on the Phone:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch “My Files”
- Tap “My Device” > “Menu”
- Tap “Share”
- Select the media files you want to back up and tap “Share”
- Select the desired sharing location to confirm
Restore Media Files from an SD Card:
- Launch “My Files”
- Go to “SD Card”
- Tap “Menu” > “Edit”
- Tick the check boxes next to the media files you want to restore
- Tap “Menu” > “Move” > “My device”
- Tap “Move here”
- Select the folder name or tap “Create folder”
- Tap “Move here” to confirm and restore media files
Back Up & Restore Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) to your computer via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Navigate to and copy the media files on the phone storage
- Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer storage
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
NOTE: To restore media files from the computer, follow the first 3 steps above and then copy the media backup files from the PC storage and transfer them on the phone storage, preferably in the folder(s) from where they originate.
