    Back Up App Data:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings
    3. Scroll to and tap “Cloud and accounts
    4. Tap “Backup & restore
    5. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and settings to your Google account
    6. Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data to be restored automatically when reinstalling apps or signing in with your backup account

    Back Up Contacts:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. Tap “Cloud and accounts
    3. Access “Accounts
    4. Select the account you want to use for contact syncing
    5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now

    Back Up Contacts to SD Card:

    1. Open “Contacts
    2. Tap “Menu
    3. Access “Settings
    4. If necessary, tap “contacts to display” and select “All contacts
    5. Tap “Import / Export contacts” > “Export to SD Card
    6. Tap “OK” to confirm

    Back Up Media Files on the Phone Storage:

    1. Launch “My Files
    2. Tap “internal storage” > “Menu
    3. Tap “Share
    4. Select the contact you want to back up
    5. Tap “Share” again to confirm

    Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

    1. Connect the Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) to your PC via USB
    2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
    3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
    4. Locate the media files on the phone
    5. Copy and paste the files in the backup location on the computer
    6. After the transfer completes, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

    Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

    NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, you can skip the first 3 steps below.

    1. Open the Internet browser on the Mac
    2. Visit Samsung Kies
    3. Click “Download for Mac” and follow the on-screen prompts to install Kies on the Mac
    4. Connect the Samsung device to your Mac via USB
    5. Enable “Media device” / “File transfer” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
    6. Open Kies on the Mac and go to “Back up / Restore
    7. Access the “Backup” tab
    8. Tick the boxes associated with “Photos”, “Music” and other media file types you want to back up
    9. Click “Backup” to begin the process
    10. After the backup is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the “Trash can
    11. You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
