Back Up App Data:
- Open the apps drawer and launch “Settings”
- Scroll to and tap “Cloud and accounts”
- Tap “Backup & restore”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, Wi-Fi passwords etc. to your Google account
- Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data, settings etc. to be restored when reinstalling apps or signing in with your Google account
Back Up Contacts:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to “Settings”
- Tap “Cloud and accounts” > “Accounts”
- Select the desired account to use for contact syncing
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
Back Up Contacts to SD Card:
- Launch “Contacts”
- Tap “Menu” > “Settings”
- If necessary, tap “Contacts to display” and select “All Contacts”
- Tap “Import/Export contact” > “Export to SD Card”
- Press “OK”
Back Up Media Files on the Phone Storage:
- Open “My Files”
- Tap “Internal storage”
- Tap “Menu” > “Share”
- Select the media files you want to back up
- Tap “Share” and select the desired location for the backup
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Samsung device to your computer via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File transfer” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media files on the phone
- Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the PC
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: In case Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps below.
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Head down to Samsung Kies
- Click “Download for Mac” and install Kies on the computer
- Connect the Samsung phone to your Mac via USB
- Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
- Open Kies on the Mac
- Access the “Back up / Restore” tab
- Click the “Backup” tab
- Tick the boxes associated with “Photos”, “Music” and other media file types you want to back up
- Click “Backup” to start the process
- After the backup is complete, eject the phone storage by dragging the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the “trash can”
- You can safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
