Back Up App Data:
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to and tap “Cloud and accounts”
- Tap “Backup & restore”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
- Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored when reinstalling apps or signing in with the backup account
Back Up Contacts:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “Accounts” and tap “Cloud and accounts”
- Select the account you want to use for contact syncing
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
Back Up Contacts to SD Card:
- Launch “Contacts”
- Tap “Menu”
- Go to “Settings”
- If necessary, tap “Contacts to display” and select “All contacts”
- Tap “Import/Export contacts”
- Tap “Export to SD card” > “OK”
Back Up Media Files on the Phone Storage:
- Open “My Files”
- Tap “internal storage” > “Menu” > Share”
- Select the contacts you want to back up
- Tap “Share” again and select the method of contact backup
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Samsung phone to the computer via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media files on the phone storage
- Copy and paste the files to the desired backup location on the computer
- Once done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device form the USB cord
Back Up Media Files on a Mac:
NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps:
- Open the Internet browser on the Mac
- Head down to https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies
- Click “Download for Mac” and install Kies
- Then connect the Samsung device to the Mac via USB
- Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open Kies on the Mac and access “Back up / restore”
- Go to the “Backup” tab
- Tick the boxes associated with “Photos”, “Music” and other types of files you want to back up
- Click “Backup” to start the process
- Once done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the “Trash can” to eject it
- Safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
