Clear App Data/Cache:

NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise it doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache and/or data.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Applications
  3. Tap “Application manager
  4. Go to “Downloaded” or “All
  5. Select the desired app
  6. Tap “Clear cache
  7. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (read WARNING above)

Clear the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, you can alternatively try solving these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data from the phone storage.

  1. Turn the phone off
  2. Press and hold “Power” “Home” and “Volume Up” simultaneously
  3. At the Samsung screen, release “Power
  4. At the bugdroid screen, release the other keys too
  5. From the Recovery menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “Wipe cache partition
  6. Press “Power” to select the option
  7. Then, highlight “Reboot system now” using the volume rocker and press “Power

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the issues you can check this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the device instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

  1. Turn the phone off
  2. Press and hold “Power
  3. At the Samsung screen, release “Power” and immediately press and hold “Volume down” instead
  4. After the phone reboots, you should see a “Safe Mode” watermark in the lower area of the screen
  5. To remove an app, first access “Settings
  6. Go to “Applications” > “Application manager
  7. Access “Downloaded” and select the desired app
  8. Tap “Uninstall” to confirm
  9. Once done, you can exit Safe Mode by rebooting your device normally
