Back Up App Data:
- Launch “Settings”
- Access “Cloud and accounts”
- Tap “Backup & Restore”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and passwords to your backup account
- Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored automatically when signing in with the backup account or reinstalling apps
Back Up Contacts:
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Cloud and accounts”
- Select “Accounts”
- Tap the account you want to use for backing up your contacts
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
Back Up Contacts to SD Storage:
- Launch “Contacts”
- Tap “Menu” > “Settings”
- If necessary, switch to “All contacts”
- Tap “Import/Export contacts”
- Tap “Export to SD” > “OK”
Back Up Media Files on the Phone Storage:
- Open “My Files”
- Access “Internal storage”
- Tap “Menu” > “Share”
- Select the desired contacts
- Tap “Share” and select a location for the backup
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
- On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media files on the phone
- Copy and transfer the files to the desired backup location on the PC
- Once done, safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps below if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies
- Click “Download for Mac” and follow the prompts to install the app on the Mac
- Connect the Android phone to the Mac via USB
- On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Open Kies on the Mac and go to the “Back up / restore” section
- Access the “Backup” tab
- Tick the boxes associated with “Photos”, “Music” and other media file types you want to back up
- Click “Backup” to start the process
- Once the process is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and into the “trash can”
- Once done, safely disconnect the device from the USB port
