NOTE: You can check this thread for instructions on how to back up app data, contacts, and media files on the phone.
Restore Contacts from SD Storage:
- Launch “Contacts”
- Tap “Menu” > “Settings”
- Tap “Contacts to display”
- Select “All contacts”
- Tap “Import/Export contacts” > “Import from SD card”
- Tap “OK”
Restore Media Files from SD Storage:
- Open “My Files”
- Access “SD Card” and tap “Menu” > “Edit”
- Tick the boxes linked with the media files you want to restore
- Tap “Menu” > “Move” > “Internal storage”
- Tap “Move here” or tap “Create folder” or the folder name to restore the files to a different location
- Tap “Move here”
Restore Media Files from a PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
- On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on the PC
- Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders from where they originate
- Once the transfer completes, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- Access “Back up / Restore” and go to the “Restore” tab
- Tick the boxes linked with “Photos” “Music” and other file types you want to restore
- Click “Restore” and follow the prompts to complete the process
- After the transfer is done, drag the virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the trash can to eject it
- Safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
