Back Up App Data:
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Cloud and accounts” and tap “Backup & Restore”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and passwords to your backup account
- Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be automatically restored when reinstalling apps or signing in with the backup account
Back Up Contacts:
- Open “Contacts”
- Access “Cloud and account” > “Accounts”
- Select the account you want to use for backing up contacts
- Make sure the “Contacts” tick box is checked
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
Back Up Contacts to SD Storage:
- Launch “Contacts”
- Tap “Menu” > “Settings”
- If necessary, switch to “All contacts”
- Tap “Import/Export” > “Export to SD”
- Tap “OK”
Back Up Media Files on the Phone Storage:
- Launch “My Files”
- Go to “Internal storage”
- Tap “Menu” > “Share”
- Select the desired contacts
- Tap “Share”
- Select the desired backup location
Back Up Media Files on a PC:
- Establish a USB connection between the Android phone and computer
- On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Navigate to the media files on the phone
- Copy and paste the files to the desired backup location on the PC
- After the process completes, safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: You can skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.
- Open the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies
- Click “Download for Mac” and install the app
- Establish a USB connection between the smartphone and Mac
- On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Launch Kies on the Mac and access the “Back up / Restore” tab
- Go to the “Backup” section and tick the check boxes associated with “Photos” “Music” and other media file types you want to back up
- When ready, click “Backup”
- After the process completes, eject the phone storage by dragging the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it over the trash can to eject it
