NOTE: You can check this thread for instructions on how to back up contacts, media files, and app data on the phone.

Restore Contacts from SD Storage:

  1. Launch “Contacts
  2. Tap “Menu” > “Settings
  3. If necessary, tap “Contacts to display” and select “All contacts
  4. Go to “Import/Export contacts
  5. Tap “Import from SD card” > “OK

Restore Media Files from SD Storage:

  1. Open “My Files
  2. Access “SD card
  3. Tap “Menu” > “Edit
  4. Tick the check boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Move” > “Internal storage
  6. Tap “Move here” or “Create folder” and select the folder name
  7. Tap “Move here” when ready

Restore Media Files from a PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
  2. On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the PC
  5. Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a Mac:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the Mac via USB
  2. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
  3. Launch Kies on the Mac
  4. In Kies, go to “Back up / Restore” and access “Restore
  5. Tick the boxes associated with “Photos” “Music” and other media file types you want to restore
  6. Click “Restore” to follow the on-screen prompts
  7. Once the process completes, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the “Trash can” icon to eject it
  8. You can safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
