Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache/data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including user profiles, high scores, save files, login information, custom settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Apps
  3. Select the desired app and tap “Storage” > “Clear data” > “OK
  4. If clearing the app data didn’t help, tap “Clear cache” (check the WARNING above)

Wipe the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can have similar results to a factory reset, without losing personal data from the phone storage.

  1. Turn the phone Off
  2. Press and hold “Volume Up” and the “Home”/”Bixby” button at the same time, then press and hold “Power” as well
  3. At the Android logo, release the buttons and wait up to a minute for the Android Recovery menu
  4. Once in Recovery, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight “Wipe cache partition
  5. Press “Power” to select the option and highlight “Yes”, then press “Power” again
  6. Once the cache is cleared, ensure “Reboot system now” is highlighted and press “Power

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t fix the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
