Back Up App Data:
- Launch “Settings”
- Access “Cloud and account”
- Tap “Backup & Restore”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
- Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be restored automatically the next time you log in with the backup account or when reinstalling apps
Back Up Contacts:
- Launch “Contacts”
- Access “Cloud and account”
- Go to “Accounts”
- Select the desired account for the backup and make sure “Contacts” is checked
- When ready, tap “menu” > “Sync Now’
Back Up Contacts to SD Storage:
- Launch “Contacts”
- Tap “Menu” > “Settings”
- Switch to “All contacts” if necessary
- Tap “Import/Export” > “Export to SD”
- Tap “OK” to confirm
Back Up Media Files to Phone Storage:
- Launch “My Files”
- Access “Internal storage”
- Tap “menu” > “Share” and select the desired contacts
- Tap “Share” again and select a backup location
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
- On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification shade
- Go to the phone storage and transfer the media files to the desired backup location on the PC
- Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Back Up Media Files on a Mac:
NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/kies/
- Click “Download for Mac” and install the app on the computer
- Connect the Android device to the Mac via USB
- If necessary, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” on the phone, either from the Notification area or at the prompt
- Open Kies on the Mac and go to “Back up / Restore”
- Access “Backup” and check the tick boxes associated with the media file types you want to back up
- Click “Backup” to begin the process
- Once done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it over the “trash can”
- Safely disconnect the device from the USB port
