Back Up App Data:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Access “Cloud and account
  3. Tap “Backup & Restore
  4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
  5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be restored automatically the next time you log in with the backup account or when reinstalling apps

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Launch “Contacts
  2. Access “Cloud and account
  3. Go to “Accounts
  4. Select the desired account for the backup and make sure “Contacts” is checked
  5. When ready, tap “menu” > “Sync Now

Back Up Contacts to SD Storage:

  1. Launch “Contacts
  2. Tap “Menu” > “Settings
  3. Switch to “All contacts” if necessary
  4. Tap “Import/Export” > “Export to SD
  5. Tap “OK” to confirm

Back Up Media Files to Phone Storage:

  1. Launch “My Files
  2. Access “Internal storage
  3. Tap “menu” > “Share” and select the desired contacts
  4. Tap “Share” again and select a backup location

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
  2. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification shade
  3. Go to the phone storage and transfer the media files to the desired backup location on the PC
  4. Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Back Up Media Files on a Mac:

NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.

  1. Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
  2. Visit https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/kies/
  3. Click “Download for Mac” and install the app on the computer
  4. Connect the Android device to the Mac via USB
  5. If necessary, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” on the phone, either from the Notification area or at the prompt
  6. Open Kies on the Mac and go to “Back up / Restore
  7. Access “Backup” and check the tick boxes associated with the media file types you want to back up
  8. Click “Backup” to begin the process
  9. Once done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it over the “trash can
  10. Safely disconnect the device from the USB port
