Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try solving these issues by clearing the app’s cache/data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including save files, high scores, login information, user profiles, custom settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Apps
  3. Select the desired app
  4. Tap “Storage” > “Clear data” > “OK
  5. If clearing the app data didn’t help, tap “Clear cache” (check the WARNING above)

Wipe the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing the issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.

  1. Turn the phone Off
  2. Press and hold “Volume Up” and the “Home”/”Bixby” button at the same time, then press and hold “Power
  3. At the Android logo, release the buttons and wait for the Recovery menu
  4. Once there, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight “Wipe cache partition
  5. Press “Power” to select the option
  6. Highlight “Yes” and press “Power” again
  7. Lastly, once done, ensure “Reboot system now” is highlighted and press “Power

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the issues, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Turn the phone Off if necessary
  2. Press and hold “Power
  3. At the “Samsung” logo, release “Power” and immediately press and hold “Volume down” instead
  4. Release the volume key once the phone finishes rebooting. Note that a “safe mode” watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
  5. To remove an app, first open “Settings
  6. Then go to “Apps” and select the desired application
  7. Tap “Uninstall” two times to confirm
  8. Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting the device normally
