Back Up App Data:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Cloud and account
  3. Tap “Backup & Restore
  4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and settings to your backup account
  5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account or when reinstalling apps

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Open “Contacts
  2. Go to “Cloud and account
  3. Access” Accounts
  4. Select the desired account to use for backup
  5. Make sure “Contacts” is checked, then tap “Menu” > “Sync Now

Back Up Contacts to SD Storage:

  1. Open “Contacts
  2. Tap “Menu
  3. Go to “Settings” and switch to “All contacts” if needed
  4. Tap “Import/Export” > “Export to SD
  5. Tap “OK” to confirm

Back Up Media Files to Phone Storage:

  1. Open “My Files
  2. Go to “Internal storage
  3. Tap “Menu” > “Share
  4. Select the desired contacts
  5. Tap “Share” and select a backup location

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android device to the PC via USB
  2. On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / ‘Media device” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Access the phone storage
  4. Transfer the media files from the phone, to the desired backup location on the computer
  5. Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Back Up Media Files on a Mac:

NOTE: You can skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is installed on the Mac.

  1. Open the Internet browser on the Mac
  2. Visit https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/kies/
  3. Click “Download for Mac” and install the software on the Mac
  4. Connect the Android phone to the Mac via USB
  5. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” on the phone when prompted or from the Notification shade
  6. Launch Kies on the Mac
  7. Access “Back Up / Restore
  8. Go to “Backup” and check the tick boxes associated with the media file types you want to back up
  9. Click “Backup” to star the process
  10. Once done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it over the “Trash can”
  11. You can safely disconnect the device from the USB port
