Back Up App Data:
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Cloud and account”
- Tap “Backup & Restore”
- Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and settings to your backup account
- Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account or when reinstalling apps
Back Up Contacts:
- Open “Contacts”
- Go to “Cloud and account”
- Access” Accounts”
- Select the desired account to use for backup
- Make sure “Contacts” is checked, then tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
Back Up Contacts to SD Storage:
- Open “Contacts”
- Tap “Menu”
- Go to “Settings” and switch to “All contacts” if needed
- Tap “Import/Export” > “Export to SD”
- Tap “OK” to confirm
Back Up Media Files to Phone Storage:
- Open “My Files”
- Go to “Internal storage”
- Tap “Menu” > “Share”
- Select the desired contacts
- Tap “Share” and select a backup location
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android device to the PC via USB
- On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / ‘Media device” at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Access the phone storage
- Transfer the media files from the phone, to the desired backup location on the computer
- Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Back Up Media Files on a Mac:
NOTE: You can skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is installed on the Mac.
- Open the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/kies/
- Click “Download for Mac” and install the software on the Mac
- Connect the Android phone to the Mac via USB
- Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” on the phone when prompted or from the Notification shade
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- Access “Back Up / Restore”
- Go to “Backup” and check the tick boxes associated with the media file types you want to back up
- Click “Backup” to star the process
- Once done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it over the “Trash can”
- You can safely disconnect the device from the USB port
