NOTE: You can check this thread for instructions on how to back up media files, contacts, and app data on the phone.
Restore Contacts from SD Storage:
- Launch “Contacts”
- Tap “Menu”
- Go to “Settings” > “Contacts to display”
- Go to “All contacts” > “Import/Export contacts”
- Tap “Import from SD card” > “OK”
Restore Media Files from SD Storage:
- Open “My Files” and go to “SD Card”
- Tap “Menu”
- Tap “Edit” and tick the boxes associated with the media file types you want to restore
- Tap “Menu” > “Move”
- Select “Internal storage”
- Tap “Move here” or “Create folder”
- Select the desired folder’s name and tap “Move here”
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
- On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder or the directory of origin
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Mac:
- Connect the Android phone to the Mac via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” on the phone, either when prompted or from the Notification shade
- Open Kies on the Mac and click the “Back up / Restore” tab in Kies
- Go to “Restore” and tick the boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
- Click “Restore” and follow the prompts
- Once the process completes, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it over the trash can
- You can safely disconnect the device from the USB port
